In the Peruvian mythology, there is three important worlds.
Uju Pacha: the underworld or the world beneath the surface, represented by the snake.

Kay Pacha: the world of the human, the surface, represented by the puma.

Hanaq Pacha: the world of the air, the gods, represented by the condor, which was considered the messenger of the gods to the humans.

For more condor photo, please look at my Trek nature account

The photo was taken at the canyon de Colca, at El cruz del condor. The observatory is the best place to see them,as they nest under, against the rocky cliff. They soar in front of us as they gain height in the morning, before going to feed on the beaches, looking for dead fishes deposited there by the waves.

Hello Charles,

You took a very nice picture with the different colours in the environment.
I don't know or this the same condor are of the California Condors' huge wingspan measures up to 2.9 m. (9½ feet), and they can weigh up to 10.4 kg. (23 pounds) There are reports of an adult bird weighing 11 to 15 kilograms, with a wingspan of 2.8 to 3.6 meters. The skin on the necks will vary in colour, depending on the age of the birds. Thanks for sharing.

Have a nice day,
John.

Great shot! This has an almost mystical feel, as the bird soars over the valley. Two things I really like about this are the fact that you can see the bird and the ground, an unusual view as we normally see birds from below. The other thing is the purple blur, probably caused by some foreground element, but giving this a nice twist. Excellent work!

Hola,

Que foto tan espectacular, barbara, te felicito!!!

Interesting shot Charles;

The image really does have a mythological feel to it...

Sharp detail in the bird against what looks to be a good bokeh. Maybe it's my eyes playing tricks on me- but I have to ask- was the bird super-imposed onto the background?

All the best,
- Dan

Bonsoir Charles,

Gilbert

Hi Charles,
Certainly caught at the decisive moment. The bird is in such perfect clear detail. The purple blur in this case suits the mood perfectly, contributing to the mythological overtones. Fascinating, Charles. Your note nicely complements.
John

Hi Charles! A very awe-inspiring photo! The bird is well placed, so quick thinking. It looks a bit oversharpened, and almost as if it were pasted into the shot afterward. I suspect that you processed the bird separately from the background. A very fun and exciting image!

Hi Charles,
the mythic bird always make me sing the Simon and Garfunkel 's tune :-))
Bie pris et même s'il y a un peu de flare, c'est de la photo d'aventure, de l'animal pris au vol..;
J'aime bien

Bonjour Charles,
Marlyse ;-))

Hello Charles

Good zoom shot of the soaring condor. I like the colour combination & contrast between the green & violet. The bird is well placed in the frame. Tfs!

Hi Charles,
The representation of the Gods by the Condor is even more convincing by the blue and violet fragments. I think some flowers in front?
Nevertheless it seems that the message of the Condor has a special colour today.

Olá Charles

Um ótimo trabalho, uma beleza
especial...lindas cores e composição.
Parabéns pelo registro Charles, muita bonita a foto.
Grande abraço,
Vera

Charles,

Another good addition to your Peru shots. The bird is in nice focus and it is a good shot but I think I prefer some of the ones on TN better, just personal taste. I'll bet that canyon is awesome.

Bonsoir Charles,

MC

A delight to see this condor focussed out flying above the purple rays of light covering the misty valley, may the new year bring you a lot of joy sharing the beauty of the world seen with and around you, wishing you from here from Madurai: it took me one hour to get this message through, so you don't have to wonder about the many views and few reactions in my gallery as green became for many a very expensive investment and for me a too-much-time-taking effort put aside for now.
take care
Henk
