Photographer's Note
The fertile valley of Arequipa. The city itself can be seen in the distance.
The city is built with white volcanic rock called "sillar" that originate in the huge volcanoes in the background.
On the right side is "El Misti" at 5822m, on the left is "Nevado Chachani" at 6057m
from Wikipedia:
Arequipa is a city in southern Peru and the nation's second-largest city. It is also the capital of the Arequipa Region and the Arequipa Province. The city stands at the foot of the snow-capped volcano El Misti, in the highlands. Arequipa has many fine colonial-era Spanish buildings built of sillar, a pearly white volcanic rock used extensively in the construction of the city, from which it gets its nickname La Ciudad Blanca ("the white city"). The city is located at an altitude of 2,380 meters (7740 feet) above sea level, in the Peruvian Andes.

Hi SHir,
Excellent photo, flawless scan.
The composition couldnt be better, the framing of the town in the foreground and the fields, city and volccanoes in the distance is very well balanced. Do you remember what the name of this village is?
Ill be back
Regards
Daniel

Hi Shir,
Wonderfull overview of Arequipa. It was the city I liked most in Peru and I lost most of my pictures from there. It was them a pleasure to discover the city. The El mIst and Chachani under this soft blue sky are really impessive, I like the colonial chuch and the green fileds that represents very well the main caracteristcs of this wonderfull place.
Regards,
Flavia

What a lovely shot, Shir! Your stand point is just excellent, getting to a high ground enough to get the fertile valley north (?) of Arequipa! Your composition is well balanced, the two volcanoes on each side, the road stretching in between, the FG church...Your colors are also very pleasing and a very good exposure control with slide which is not the most tolerant and forgiving film media...
;)
Take care!
Chen
