Photographer’s Note
Not a spectacular photo, and probably not even my best photo of this plaza, but not every photo has to be spectacular; showing off what things are like in the real world are as much a goal of TrekEarth as showing the work of excellent photographers...
Anyway, this is the Plaza d'Armas (the main plazas in every town/city) in city of Trujillo in the north of Peru. Trujillo is a rather large city (~750,000 people), near to the very important Moche valley, and close to the massive ancient adobe city of Chan Chan, capital of the Chimu kingdom. The city is full of great colonial architecture, with bright coloured buildings (probably because the sky is grey from June to December, basically), and a real nice, calm charm. I quite enjoyed my few days in the city, before heading into the mountains for the next few months. I will post some more photos from Trujillo, Chan Chan and the Moche sites which I visited.
