This is a large building at the fabulous mountain-top ceremonial site of Marcahuamachuco, located near Huamachuco. Unfortunately, I am not sure just what this building is, or what the site as a whole means, even though I went through it with my M.A. supervisor (you can see him talking to a group of people just below the tall wall on the right), who, along with his wife, is/are the archaeologists who have studied this site a great deal. Since he was showing a group of Peruvians around, and since my Spanish was especially bad in the early days of my trip (when we visited the site), I am not sure what he was saying. He only occasionally got the chance to pass me a comment. But yeah, just remember that while Machu Picchu is a very beautiful site, it was not super important, and there is a great deal of amazing archaeology all over the entire country of Peru...
