Photographer’s Note
Ishinca (5530 m) is one of the many 5000ers located in the Cordillera Blanca of Peru. The Cordillera Blanca has thirty three peaks above 5500 m. Huaraz, a little mountain town used as departure for most of the peaks, is sometimes called the "South American Chamonix".
The ascent via the normal route to Ishinca is quite easy, and is normally climbed for acclimatisation.
This picture was taken on the summit, preparing the equipment to start the descent to the base camp, called "Quebrada Ishinca".
