Photographer’s Note

We were rewarded with this view after climbing a very steep grassy bank on a shortcut on the Huayhuash circuit. The path was so steep that our donkeys (carrying our equipment) had to go the long way around. This is right by the basecamp for Siula Grande (the main Huayhuash mountain of Joe Simpson fame) and the view of the mountain should have been spectacular from this point, except we couldn't see it at all because of the low cloud - very dissapointing, but thats how it is in the mountains. As we were in a small group we couldnt even pitch up our tent and wait for a day (or 2).
