Photographer’s Note

I took a large riverboat up the Amazon River outside of Iquitos to do some wildlife photography. We were gone for days, and we'd stop in small riverside villages to resupply. At one village I spotted this little girl sitting by herself. It is very, very remote here...no roads, just the river as the highway...and they have limited contact with the outside world. But she's obviously well-kept with her clothes and sandals. I thought the look on her face was innocent and even beguiling.
