Photographer’s Note
In September I took a riverboat up the Amazon from Iquitos, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. The birds we saw were incredible. This big macaw was unafraid of us as we paddled a small dugout canoe up a small side stream. He (or she?) was preening its feathers after a gentle rain. I was about 30 yards away and used a 100-400 zoom to get this shot. I stayed with a digital ISO of 100 to keep out noise since I knew I'd have to crop quite a bit...maybe 40%.

Hi Ted,
Oh, I do like this one! But... With a slight bit of post processing you can easily give it even more punch! I made a little workshop for you and hope you like it. I'm slightly surprised about the pixellation in the background with a 5D! Hahaha, for me it's normal since I use Nikon ;-). Thanks for sharing and I hope you like the workshop!
Greetings,
Dennis
PS: I lived one year in the central amazon region of Brazil, so very recognizable to me ;-).
