Hi Rinie
The girls' expressions are fabulous and makes your photo truly special. There's a certin look on the girl behind on the right that i find very cool.
The folds of their clothing are well rendered and ti really like the street fair atmosphere in the whole photo.
I'm not too crazy about the sign above with the letters, but I understand that cropping it may take awya some of the colors brought on by the pole on the right side.
The crows is great specilly the woamn pouring a drink.
Great capture- the girls look wonderful! I have a lot of friends who do dance and I recognize the facial expressions of "Are we all ready to do this? Don't mess up in front of everybody!" Oh, and I love their skirts! Nice job!

Hee Rinie, je kunt het niet laten, hè? There's clearly some argueing going on in this picture. The 'choreography' looks a bit messy, but on the other hand that enhances the "cuteness" of these girls in nice dresses. I guess the only way to get a shorter DoF was to use a larger focal length and take the picture from a longer distance. But you're right, some of the spectators are also adding to the scene. Take care!
Hi Rinie,
Looks like the two girls on the right are complaining about the two girls on the left,a nicely captured moment in strong colors and perfectly captured poses.

I like this so much - their poses are lovely, especially the way one girl breaks the pattern of the arms, and the colours are so rich. But of course the great charm of this shot lies in their expressions. Confident young girls having a moment of doubt and turning to each other for confirmation and reassurance. That's how I read it anyway. My first and automatic reaction was to think that it required a shallower dof and a crop from the top, but I changed my mind even before reading your note. A delightful shot, Rinie.
very beautiful, Rinie!
at least they´re in the same position, except for the girl in the back, with her skirt spread :))
they were so nervous before going up the stage!
I like so much this series of ours, the colors, the people in the street, the loudspeakers, the cold they bravely faced.
beautiful counterpart to Kike´s image!

A very interesting, very human scene here, Rinie, reflecting the fact that not every performance is perfect! Seeing the people in the background helps give context, so having this much DOF is OK. It might be good to crop off more of the distracting Balmain sign at the top, though.

This picture remind me a similar dance in Mexico... and I know it's difficult to catch a good expression. Here, i like the 3 differents expressions of those girls. The man behind is also typical. Well seen!

Nice one Rinie. I like the tension between the girls. You can see it in their eyes and facial expressions. Left vs right. I wonder why they are arguing and why nobody is really watching them.

You have the "eye", Rinie, no doubt about it. You know what I like about this, besides the finely caught expressions of challenge from the girls? It's that boy's head in the lower part of the frame, that gives it an even more theatrical, perhaps even articficial feeling. Excellent work, Francis

A nice moment, in contrast to Kike's where the young girl looks so confident, here you can see the doubt and nervousness and maybe annoyance of the young dancers.
Such rich colours, should the DOF be shallower? Mmmm, I personally like looking around at the spectators. the young girl in the front pourign her tea, seems onlivious to what's going, she obviously didnt notice the wrong move:)

Hi Rinie, A well seen and good capture. I like the professional side of the dancers: serious looking; and colorful formal dress. I also like the fun parts of the photo: not sure what's the next move or “Oops, we made a wrong move” looking.
Nice portraits to the dancers. Great color contrast and nice details. A very enjoyable picture.

Oi Rinie, dancing all over the world ;-) Love this one with its different expressions and the interaction betweem them, Its nice to see the colourfull scene light up the business surroundings. The boy in the front seem ti be oblivious to it all, giving this one a fine narrative depth. Very fine one!

These are two very different views of the same people showing how you both see things. It is an interesting moment that you've captured here. I think most of us would see the action as the key event but I like that you've shown the uncertainty as the event. There is a nice bit of confusion. One side seems to be asking what to do while the other side impatiently reminds them. I love the look on the girl in front on the right. She seems so frustrated like this isn't the first time she's had to set them straight. And another thing is how everyone around these performers seems focused on something else. It's as if the whole world has stopped for a moment for them to reorganize and once again become the center of attention. I might be for cropping the white sign out on top, but only to the absolute minimum so that it's just a hair out of the frame. Nicely captured though, definitely. And really nicely spotted. Thanks for sharing this one Rinie.
Hi Rinie - the key interest in this image is of course the communication between the girls and the context that they find themselves in so a photograph which includes all sorts of elements of that context is going to work well in a documentary sense - however I find some of the elements taking my eye off at tangents from the girls and photographically I think the composition needs to be tighter.
My first choice of crop has already been done by Evren - that was simply to bring in the top and bottom to remove the signs and the boy's head - I considered also cloning in the girls dress over the boy's head as another option.
So as promised a workshop but different from what was intended - I have left the boy's head in (although it could still be cloned out) but have tried to maintain the 2-3 relationship of the 35mm format.
I also quite like the inverted triangle formed between the boy in the foreground and the girls and the way in which he also acts as 1st base to the line of people running up the centre of the picture - in the workshop I've largely taken out the distracting green.
A lovely moment
see what you think

Hi Rinie!
The expressions of the girls are so wonderful!I like the uncertainty and can almost hear their voice arguing the next move!
Well done!
Christina
