Photographer’s Note

Silent runs, whispers pronounced, turning wheels, low light, a sudden cry.

A hospital; the place where expectations meet.

A baby ready to be delivered, a patient hoping recovery, a family waiting, friends, acquaintances met, everything taking place on narrow corridors with an almost synister neat environment.

The fact is that a place like that narrows your vision, suddenly it forces you to focus on the most important things in life. It makes you remember, it makes you expect, and at the same time it gives you the opportunity to thank for everything you received so far.

A tunnel like vision, hoping for the light. Always hoping for the light at the end.

Taken with a mobile phone. A Sagem My x7. I have no idea of the focal lenght, ISO settings etc etc.
I applied USM to improve a bit.
I moved the phone on purpose to get a feeling.
Lately I have no chances to post nor critique anything.
Hope to be here soon and get rid of my tunnel vision.

Hi Kike, I like your photo, somehow, as it renders so well, together with your note, what can be felt in hospital.
But I'm sorry to hear that you spent so much time there. I hope all wil turn out well soon. I hope for light at the end of the tunnel.

I think this is a very appropriate way to render this hospital scene.

Taking the picture on a phone camera, as a patient or relative would normally do, rather than on a proper camera as a photographer would, seems like the right approach (and I assume is your actual situation).

The blur is great. In line with what Michael said, I would say that this scene is just clear enough to allow us to identify where we are, while being blurred enough to let our imaginations fill in the details -- a very nice effect.

And I love many little details: the grain, the colour, the reflections on the floor, and the way that the person's knee disintegrates in the light of the window behind them.

Altogether a good job in a difficult situation. Best of luck.

Good take with the mobile phone camera, Kike - the tilted view along the empty corridor and the blinding colorful lights make for a simple, yet compelling image (I could envision this as an album cover, I have yet to think for which band or arstist). Best wishes to you and yours, and for overcoming the "tunnel vision".
