Photographer’s Note

Blurred, grainy, in contradiction with our western way of reading an image mais voilà, a face in a crowd. Taken in the same day Kike made his beautiful Eyes of Youth.

pp: darkened a bit the flowers in the girl´s hair, messed around with levels, curves. it´s originally grainy, sorry for that, and yes, i would like too to have more of the girl´s chin... but hope you like it.

This shot is a surprise. From the tumbnail, I didn't expect something classical like this from you but when I cliked, I recognized the originality of the blur and the grain that makes it unique. Just one thing bothers me : the nose of the second girl from left which is on the first girls hat. She looks like pinocchio if you look quick ! Otherwise, congradulations !

The thumbnail doesn't do this image justice, Isabel. This is very nice. The blurriness and then the lovely face at left make for a good contrast and an interesting photo.

Isabel,

This is a beautiful shot. I love the fact that the main subject is tucked away in a corner and in the background, that we get a glimpse of her rather than having her front and centre as is so often the case.

Also, I wouldn't apologize for the grain at all -- for me it's part of the picture's charm (along with the beautiful colour, especially the skin tones).

The same can be said about the various amputations (the front girl's chin, the top of the tall girl's head). In my view they improve the picture over what it might have been because they give the viewer the sense of being right in the crowd with these people.

Lastly, while Elise is right about Pinocchio-nose, I don't find it really affects my view of the full-sized shot, where the border between the one girl's nose and the other girl's headgear (a hat? a pot?) is more defined. It's mostly in the thumbnail that it makes a difference.

That is simply brilliant, Isabel. Your blur is an artistic weapon, my an accidental mess...;)
In yur blur there is all the clarity one needs. This is blur in the same way as HCB is blurry, and he bloody is, as I'm sure Luko would recognize. You are one of the few people on TE who can write her own rules. And it all folds together. Beautifully! Francis

A really nice framing and selective focus. The grain is nice too. Did you have to crop later?
I like the girl's lost chin as is. Gives a little shy and curious appearance that wouldn't be so with her chin out and the curve of the foreground girl's neck not framing her face.

I love the framing of these three faces and the grainy feel to te photo. It has a very euphoric feel to it. Is this a spanish flamenco dance?

Isabel, i think that the sharpness is very high, but the typical represented culture were very fine and the interesting point of view helps too much to this beautiful picture.

I like much this style of photograph, one could believe to be in the middle of the dancers. the pp is excellent, I also like around the girl on the left, any bulge.

I like the different level of eyes in the frame- it makes you look all over. The motion of the two girls really makes the far girl the star, which otherwise, she would have just been a face on the side of the frame. I really like it! Good job!

Wonderful part of this fine Paraguyan dancing triptych, Isabel. The combination of he earnest stationary face of the girl and dancing blurred ones is lovely. Very astutely framed too. Great job! Beijo de Rotterdam, Bert.

I did not see this one but I remember you wrote that you posted it,

nice and confusing at the same time, it is a bit too grainy to my taste, maybe because it is in color and seems like cromatic aberrations, but I know it is your style!
