Is the seat of government of the Republic of Paraguay, here is the official office of the President of the Republic, where he works
Located in downtown Asuncion, overlooking Paraguay River, this building was built by order of President Carlos Antonio Lopez, to serve as a residence for his son, General Francisco Solano Lopez, hence the fact that the name of the building is "Palacio de los Lopez"
Works began in 1857 under the direction of English architect Alonso Taylor
Materials for construction of the palace came from various places from the interior, stone, woods, bricks, cast iron parts, etc., so not imported but Paraguayans materials
The ornamentation was bronze figurines and furniture imported from Paris, and large mirrors that decorate the halls of the Palace
Several European artists came to Paraguay to take charge of the decoration of the building, like Owen Mognihan, English engineer, who was in charge of sculpting the figures necessary to create a palatial setting, Andres Antonini, Italian, who came to Paraguay exclusively to design and establish the marble staircase that connects the Palace to the second floor, the painter Julio Monet, French, who painted the ceiling with floral decorations and figures
Currently, the building offers a great show at night thanks to clever lighting, which I missed
It was declared Cultural Heritage Material

Ciao e buon fine settimana

Hola querida Maria,
it's impressive how clear, deep and detailed the presentation of this mostly shady façade is. You found a great point of view to include a view of the fine garden too. I like very much the apt and effective way in which you managed light and shade, we can see into the verandas as well. The colours are lovely, the flag is an essential detail and stands out superbly. It's the first time I see this building. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

Good density levels which have given excellent exposure in both the highlights and shadows with punchy light contrasts yet retaining good detail in the shadowed facade of the imposing mansion. Nice warm cold color contrasts between the fg red shrubs and the blue sky. Tfs!

Beautiful view of unique presidential palace. The overall composition is very well balanced by leaving space with nice park in the foreground and the nice clean blue sky above. There is also excellent light and shadow play. Well done.
p.s. As far as I know, pushcarts are not forbidden in India, but they must be purchased and maintained, and they also need somebody load and push them. Woman on my photo is loading and carrying alone (no maintenance, she can be replaced very fast -- sad story...)

Your informative note augments the experience of viewing photos from Paraguay. Here the brilliant colors of the national flag add excellent color highlight to architectural edifice otherwise drowned in shadow.
Have a good weekend, Maria, and an early good wishes for the Holiday Season.

A big wow from me on this!! Palatial is the word, this is a wonderful building. I love your angle of choice, it works perfectly and allows a great amount of park, and a perfect crop of the curved bushes. What I find really striking here is the combination of the Romanesque arches of the galleries combined with the very impressive and somewhat austere greek portico, all combined wonderfully under a fine tower. It looks like a lot of influences were at work here and the final result is a gleaming white mix of electic architectural wonderfulness. (that may not be a word)
Beautiful play of light and shadow, angle is excellent and the colors superb. The flag looks very proud and elegant atop this fine building!
Delighted to learn of this place through your photo and notes, thanks for sharing!
All the best

Hola Miss Maria,
Wow, wish I worked in a building like this, instead of being stuck in a dull, bland, cubicle farm!? Quite a stately office, I'd be happy to come to work here every day...especially under an abundance of bright blue skies.
A very pleasing composition, using the colorful well manicured foreground to accentuate this fine looking structure. I especially like the little burst of color from the flag as it sits against that big open sky. A good angle chosen, which allows for a sense of depth and dimension. Very nicely composed and presented. Glad I don't have to mow that lawn though...now that's a chore! :)

beautiful palace, and I bet no one else from TE has ever seen it before. I like the unique architecture and the well taken care about garden in he foreground. Flag adds an evidence for the location (country). Even if the main façade is in the shade we can appreciate well its beauty.
Very well done!

Nice capture of this beautiful building, this remind of some of the buildings we still have in the Philippines, showing a Spanish influence. Good pov and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

I am back after ten days staying in seclusion away from pc, urban rat race and very close to nature in my village in Malacca - 3hours drive up north. Its nice to catch up some pictures i missed - I am picking up the momentum slowly! In this shot i think your are fully aware how that little flag has played the biggest role and complementing the whole colour scheme so effectively at the same time triggers the eyes in. Tkhs to your note and surprisingly this white-wash structures look too British rather than Spanish except for inclusion of the tower perhaps, and resembles almost similar colonial architectures we have in Singapore and still stand proudly. I love the pov and comp as we really can enjoy the feel of depth and space from corner to corner with excellent eye-catching foreground detail with the sun casting some wonderful warm light and shadows. Great exposure and a great looking shot - it just speaks quality neatly laid out. Congrats

beautiful palace indeed. Great view from this angle. You composed this one nicely with nice light and very good details. Colours are beautiful too. Very well done.
Happy New Year.

Very beautiful government palace! Together with your excellent note, we all can imagine how pleasant it is a visit in and out of it!
The gardens look very attractive too!
I don't remember if I had ever seen this construction before!
Sharpness, management of difficult light, colors, horizontal format, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,

me recuerdo de mirar esto palacio cuando visité assuncion en 1976. muy Buena vista, mismo con la luz no iluminando la fachada.
