He was was a politician and Paraguayan general, president of his country since February 3, 1989 until August 15, 1993
He was investigated by the United States on suspicion of drug trafficking, which earned him the distrust of the country for a long time. Rather dedicated to his private business, he owned several companies in Paraguay, including Foreign Currency Exchange
He died in New York on April 21, 1997 at age 73, from liver cancer
The Photo and the Mansion
There are private guards on cars that not let people walk or drive near or in front of it or...take photos, as everybody told me about it I managed to obtain it half hidden in a corner
This is the main entrance of the residence, at the back there is a smaller one, similar at a castle (a tower can be seen at the far left) where her daughter live or used to

I am happy that I just made a quick stop at TE and found a new post by you — a photo shot in 2009 in Asuncion. As always there is a useful note accompanying the post. I remember President Rogriguez's name, and with your note, I remember incident of distrust. It's a very good architectural portrait.
We were in Santiago just a month ago today, just getting ready to board a shuttle bus for Valparaiso, and then onto the Crystal Symphony. I miss that warm weather.

Attractive architecture picture with a very good note!
Sharpness, management of difficult light, colors, chosen pov, horizontal format and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,

Hola Nikkitta !!

Well now, sounds like you were in stealth mode as well taking this picture...although it sounds like your subject takes things a lot more seriously than a random Parisian street artist! :) Glad you were able to accomplish your mission without incident, because you certainly came away with a beautiful shot of this mansion....which I guess may or may not have been supported by drug trafficking apparently!? :o
This actually looks like it could be right out of the Eastern U.S., or some ritzy California area. I love the angle of this picture, having to sneak around provided you with a very good perspective. Tough back lighting, but the controlled exposure shows everything in detail, this turned out very well!
So I take it you didn't ring the doorbell and run away then?? jaja Enjoy the day ahead mi amiga.
Cheers from the North side,

Inspite of the backlight appears on left far corner, the picture is well managed in details, and fine view over the palace. The strong side light enhanced the iron-fence to shine and contrast onto the garden and mansion behind. Also, the white house of Paraguay shown its beautiful outlines.
POV chosen superbly.
Buen fin de semana,

I think when we hear photos are not allowed, it makes us more determined :) This is a beautiful shot of a very impressive house. The view you have is very good as it allows us to see the breadth and the depth of the house, and the sky is like a painting! The red flowers look superb in the scene too, bursting color in among the paler tones of cream and blue. Very nicely done, and if I could give bonus points for the danger factor I would!
Have a great weekend

Une somptueuse habitation, toute blanche, j'aime le petit balcon et les arches en entrée, la décoration des parterres avec les fleurs rouges, bonne note , belle présentation
PS) je part cette nuit pour une semaine en Autriche, A+

What a sad story about a former general, I hope the outcome of the investigation was positive. Good and sturdy architecture, nicely captured with good details. Well done, tfs.

Must be good to be president, especially living in this classical mansion with ornate architecture, as detailed in your image.

That edifice looks simple and small in size but this is a remarkable architecture, a part of the building is in the shadow, very well maintained garden and an iron barrier, excellent hues, clear picture, have a good saturday

Hola querida Maria,
this is a lovely mansion, the house, its surroundings but also the light, the light, the colours and the atmosphere remind me strongly of some beautiful areas in the northern suburbs of Athens (except that mansions in those places don't usually have low, elegant fences like the one in your photo.) You made the best of your hidden point of view, it makes the building look so grand and imposing. There's a fine atmosphere of tranquility and mystery. You managed the challenging lighting very skillfully. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

The early morning warm light is vital to make this shot successful with the edifice beautifully dominates from corner to corner. Love the perspective and depth,
with good colours and general contrast, touches of some bright vivid colours in the fg make lots of diff to shot. Nicely taken shot so soothing to the eyes.

I wonder why they would not allow to take photos of this beautiful well maintained palace, it is the same over here in India in many temples. God knows what they have to hide. Very irritating for us. Good for you to shoot it and share it over here, it hasn't done anybody any harm for 5 years since you took this shot :-) Well chosen angle and POV which shows us the dimensions of the house on both sides. The red flowers on the lawn brings a dash of color to the photo. Excellent clarity and quality as usual. Thanks for sharing.

It looks vaguely French in architectural style. A good upward pov with excellent sharpness and superb shadow detail in the building's facade. Well framed and composed with plenty of breathing space right around yet with no wasted space. Tfs!
