another photo from the first day of 2008 (another one is here), taken in the incredibly colourful city of Baņos. this is an entrance to a cafe, and for some reason I think their business is going very well.

for those who celebrate - happy Valentine; for those who don't - have a great day!

Hello Kristine,
I am glad to be the first one to comment on this one. You know this destination of which I had never thought comes more and more often in my thoughts, thanks to your pictures. I like your tight crop, these naīve drawings in splendid colors, the details of the electricity. Very inviting. Happy Valentine to you and Kristaps.

TFS
Kind regards, Michčle

I love it, i wish people would paint houses and buildings like this in my area.
I like how at the first glimpse distracting rusty object(i guess that is electricity meter) completes composition. Without it this would be just onother colorfull shot.
But now this is as always good done job
HV to you to!
Kisses and hugs!

Hi Kristine, really nice and coloful photo. The walls reminds me a lot some homes in Argentina. The walls are almost art by them self. Did you do any closeups? Well done!!!

Hello Kristine

What a joyful compostition : Colors are great, and the way you've composed with a tight crop and the stairs are a good idea.
Nice picture, thanks for sharing.

Regards,
Karine

Hello Kristine,
While i am packing i have some time to comment this picture ;-)
It is indeed all about the colours and the look great. The deep setting is something i like but also those stairs bending in a curve, i like that effect....very nice work.
Take care, Henk

It's all about the colors, Kristine. And they are BEAUTIFUL!
But, like Henk just pointed out, I also like a lot those stairs bending upwards. Excellent touch!
Happy Valentine Day!
Have fun, see ya soon.
Fulvio.

Hi Kristine,
Happy Valentines Day to you too! This is a vintage shot portraying the bold, bordering on gaudy, colors that Central and South Americans just love. This makes it a lot of fun for us photographers. You have a little of everything in your travelogue; massive volcanos, ornery burros, horse yoga, trout fishing resorts, the "soldier of fortune"-camoflage painted traveler, and the fantastic Central American colors. Your series has been very educational and a lot of fun! Keep on posting these great shots!
Stan

Hello Kristine,

What great colours! Perfect shot for these cloudy and cold days. Really superb!
In the first moment I thought its a kind of the famous painting;) I think such places would make us feel well even during winter;)

Have a nice day!

Hi Kristine,

ooh, this one is for me , right? :P Seriously, I looove colours. I need colours so I apreciate artistic expresions like this one so much. This one looks like a painting and this stairs do not feel like a 3 dimensional object. For me it seems going on these stairs like entering in a painted cartoon world. This must be such a great city. Colours, the way of life. Never just black or white.

Kind regards,
Jeri

Hello Kristine,

The vivid colors of primitive art. The photograph is nicely composed, perfectly exposed. Thanks to the collective photographs that you and Kristaps took in Ecuador, we at Trekearth fortunate enough to see them are getting a real taste of this country on the Equator.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hi Kristine,
Very nice composition, with great colours. You POV is excellent and the plants well placed. I like also the meters in the composition, because they give the sense of reality. A good job! Cheers,
Catherine

Hi Kristine,
Somehow this picture summartizes the feelings that your & Kristaps photos convey about the people of this area: a cheerful, colorful mixture of the natural and the imaginative with a bit of the practical thrown in.

Hello Kristine,

This artwork is obviously strongly influenced by the rainforest, as I can see the tapir and the butterfly. It is good to see some vibrant artwork to brighten up the streetscape. I like the leading stairway, which makes one ponder what could be found at the top. I like how the scene is complimented by some real foliage. Well done.
