Hi Kristine,
astonishing beautiful capture! Marvelous display of colours, specially intensive green and dramatic sky scenery. But the biggest delight is this white donkey (and his attitude :) in between. I guess sometimes is just about the right timing. Well, or most of the time. :) Marvelous capture!
Kind regards,
Jeri

Hi Kristine,
Hahaha!!! It makes me think of the quote Jeff Vergara was giving yesterday on TrekLens:
“a worthy man is still worthy even penniless, a donkey is a donkey even if he is finely saddled.” - turkish proverb
There you go! ;-) It's a donkey and will always be a donkey, but a wet one in a moment when the rain comes... Hahaha, very funny as well to read the note and that you went back so often, though in the end the quick snapshot still is the best :-).
Thanks for sharing!
Greetings, Dennis
Beautiful Kristine,
cleverly placed Donkey and good to use such dramatic sky, the green colors are amazing.
Just the shadow underneath your frame : )

This is a great post, Kristine. The position of the donkey is great and its white brings a wonderful contrast to the rest of the picture.
I like it when you say that it was taken "almost by chance". Isn't that true for most - if not all - great pictures?

Excellent composition. The colours are strong and the sky is foreboding. Well done.

Hello Kristine,
I just saw your upload from yesterday and was thinking about a ws because the light was not perfect on the green fields, but here..wowww. This is what i call light..!!! Light is so essentiel in photograhy and you really found it here. I really wonder what kept you so long in posting this one. This is for sure one of your best light photo's from Ecuador. The green fields are shining, even in the far distance we see green in a mix with bright and darker tones. The bright spot in the center works very good in combination with all those darker clouds surrounding that area. The Donkey? Well, you where very lucky here, it's beautiful how you put him in the frame.
Very, very good work here. For me is light the most important thing and you got it here...perfect..!!!!

Hi Kristine,
The white donkey standing there all alone is a really special element in this vast green landcsape. I love the dark brooding clouds and the general amazing atmosphere the shot has. Nice work!

Hi Avene,
I too like this very dramatic composition of sunlight and shadows. The donkey makes a nice focal point and I really like the the sunlit fields on the hillside with the black cloud of doom above. VMP, Pat
Hi Kristine,
This is marvelous. The donkey is very well placed .. it is a wonderful point of focus and gives the image a wonderful sense of place .. the bright light on the vibrant Earth is wonderfully managed under the dark sky .. very nice.
take care,
John

Hi Kristine,
Menacing scenery, attenuated by the presence of a somewhat friendly looking donkey. Good composition.
I like your frames, for me they make your photos look like pictures at an exhibition.
Kind Regards,
MArc
A very interesting photo, really beautiful! Great colours and contrast between the bright green grass and the dark imminent sky. It's very dramatic. The donkey was photographed at the perfect place, really lovely composition! Well done! :)
TFS!
Hello Kristine,
A superb shot, and it must be a wonderful memory from you sojourn to Ecuador. The brilliant green of the hilltop and the white horse as a highlight, makes this a most memorable photo. The drama of the sky is overwhelming. Your note also, is highly engaging.
Warm regards,
Bulent

A dream picture, Kristine! light contrast is fantastic and all that, but this is this white donkey that promotes the shot to the higher level... maybe it is too close to the edge of the frame though, but this is a minor point here... very well done!

Hello Kristine
Fantastic worked as your light and shadow in the composition!
All Ecuadorians landscapes are beautiful scenes. I say this because I have had the good fortune to visit the brotherly country.
The frame is magnificent and attractive, these dark clouds are looming spectacle. The shades of green contrasted well with the rest of the mountains, but I do not like it, you left the donkey at the mercy of this storm.

Hi Kristine,
Your notes are interesting and make me laugh. Animals probably laugh at us more than we laugh at them. This donkey was probably thinking; "Doesn't this crazy tourist have anything better to do that to take a photo of a donkey?". You are right, this shot did turn out real well. Some of my favorite lighting occurs when the storm clouds just start to lift for a brief moment. You have the beautifully saturated forground, the dark storm clouds in the background and getting only one shot of the stubborn donkey is sill pretty good. How would you like to have run a mule team with these stubborn creatures.
Excellent work!

Hello Christine
Very nice composition, I like the way you have minimized the size of the donkey by showing him against such a magnificent background.
Well done

Daniel
I had noticed this one and now I am back. It's one close to my heart...first I love them donkeys. Good animals, very very intelligent, overexploited so often. And with some sense of humour:-). Clearly he was offended by your touristic nonchalance:o), and then you let him get wet, you naugthy one ! You should have taken him with you...I like your story as much as I like the pic with its wonderful pre-storm mood and light, and colors (that green...) and the positioning of the donkey : unique. Well done Kristine!

Hi again Kristine,
An amazing shot with so beautiful contrasted colours. The donkey makes your photo animated. And this is also a great lesson you give us: a photographer must be flexible, every day is different. We can have great shot like this one which is not expected. And when we expect something, it did not come...
Best regards,
Catherine

Dear Kristine
I chose to go back one page in your gallery to choose this one. Quite fascinating. The thumbnail does not quite reveal the chief protagonist of this shot, the donkey. Amazing light you got here...while the FG is lit up by sunlight obviously piercing thru the rain clouds, the BG is dark with the ominous clouds & the BG hills in shadow. You couldn't have hoped that your 'subject' stood in a more appropriate place, in the light & looking right into the frame. Wonderful photograph Kristine...hat's off!
Best Regards

Hi Kristine,
Wonderful capture of the fickle high altitude weather with the dramatic sky cooking up a storm. The lone white donkey look quite resigned to this weather. Beatiful varying shades of green a nice depth due to the little bright hole in the sky.
Regards, Tom
