... or "que vida...", according to zmey.

many guidebooks describe the town of Misahuallí as the "sleepiest of all jungle towns", and trust me, it's very true. I thought the girl waiting in front of the shop for customers was a nice illustration for that.

Misahuallí is a small port located at the junction of the Napo and Misahuallí rivers (a glimpse of the rivers is here) and it was the first port in the Ecuadorian Amazonian. there is NO bank or post office in the town...

Very funny (the title as well) and also nice composition, with nice colors and light. I keep on looking at it and I keep on laughing
Nice

Hi Kristine,
Looks good and sounds like it is just the right place for me, what is the fastest way to reach it from Europe ?
It's a great photo not only because of the hilarious position and the good techs, but also because of nice contrasting colors that fit well together and contribute significantly to the visual impact of your image.
Have a nice day JY

hi kristine,
she deserves that siesta! leave her alone to rest.
a wonderful capture to show us the "real" meaning of waht this town is known for. colorful and crisp. i hope she wont fall down tho and brake an arm or leg...and hope too that the hospital is just a breath away, if ever..:-)

this is a beatiful shot, self explaining, I would say. What a temptation for a nape. Well done. Geraldine

Thats a lovely way to feel forlorn and lazy. I like the colours, composition and the tone of the image along with the way you have used the depth and pov

Hi Kristine, lovely catch - the lines, the colours, the mysteries beyond the darkness. The contrast between her pink top and the differing tones of green are wonderful. Great atmosphere. Regards, Roberto

Hi Kristine,
Well captured! It does look like a sleepy town! I like it. The colours are really nice, with the contrasting aqua, pink, green and brown tones. The composition is lovely with the subject to the right, giving good depth and the details are nice and sharp.
Well seen!
Claudz

Hi Kristine,
To me it's not a masterpiece in terms of technique but it works pretty well.
The framing is very well chosen and colors attract the eye for dure! Then your title emphasize the subject with unusual posture. It's even more stunning when reading your note to discover it is a salesperson!
Cheers,
Pris.

Hi Kristine

Beautiful colours and great capture of the scene. I would just change the title to "the art of being relaxed" Why should she wait inside standing behind a counter...? :-))Chau chau,

Maria

Hello Kristine

Very eye-catching thumbnail thanks to the contrasting colors which create a strong impact.
The way you've composed is very well seen, and focus the main subject.
Perfect sharpness, well done.

Karine

Hello Kristine,
very nice picture. I like the vertical lines of the cabin and the different tones of green. Excellent colours and sharpness. It also shows something of the mood of the place which it represents. Intersting composition and note too.
Kind Regards.

Hello Kristine. Contents, color, composition and aesthetics are in this photo somewhat special. For me it is a poetic photo. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi Kristine, what a perfect timing to take this photo. Don't we all want to take naps? Now I'm at work jealous of that girl!!! Very sharp and nice composition and colors.
Good job.

Daniel

Great shot with wonderful colours. I wonder if she is sleeping this way. Very good daily life image. Nino

I just wrote Fluvio that I should go food shopping but after seeing this, I think I have a little siesta myself. But probably I am simply not good enough in knowing the art of being lazy yet but with a little exercise I might find a solution. Excellent color work, Kristine, and I really like the strong pink of her shirt against the different shades of green, a wonderful strong mix. Interesting enough these colors give me personally a lot of energy but obviously it does not help this girl a lot ... okay, the heat wears you out, at least it does me when I am in hot places. This is all really good, love your text. Barbara.

Hello Kristine,

A very beautifully composed and colorful image, accompanied by an informative note. I had a glimpse of the river (in B&) and it is also powerful, conveying the wilderness that is still the vast Amazon area.

Warm regards,
Bulent

Hej Kristine
I am very impressedof your photos, this one has a very nice act in a blended comp, and the pink goes excellt against the emerald green.

Hi Kristine,
I'm a bit late for this one... but I'm here allright.
Funny, colorful, inventive! It perfectly renders the idea of what this little town's daily life must be... COOL SHOT!
Cheers,
F.

Another great shot from Ecuador Kristine. She does look comfortable, and you placed her perfectly in the frame. I really like how you included the open door. The colours in this shot are very bright.

Regards,
David

Hi Kristine,

another great shot that conveys the atmosphere perfectly, and I like your notes to photos too, very informative, well done!

Take care, Ivana

Funny shot in excellent bright colours, Kristine, you were lucky to capture her unaware, precise framing is really well done...

Cheers

Hi Kristine,
Wonderful combination of colors, pink on emerald green. Excellent balance as well as the small bench.
Best wishes, Hisashi

Hi, Kristine -

Great photo! The combination of subject and colors is really spectacular. I'm just wondering if a bit of crop from the left might make another interesting image.

Dan

Hello Kristine

Excellent shots from your visit to Ecuador.

This draws much attention by my membership offered. The location of the subject on the right side, has been ideal, allowing us to observe the nuances and wonderful shade of the walls of wood.

Good balance, high definition and sharpness.

John

I like what you have shot and conveyed through this post, Kristine, and the girl in such funny posture is a great capture. Really interesting to see such a scene.

Hi Kristine,

this is such a cool shot. I can just feel how relaxed and bored she is. This capture really reminds me of long summer vacations, just doin absolutely nothing and be bored to death. Great one!

Kind regards,
Jeri

It is a very nice shot with good composition, colours and sharpness. Well done.

Perfecting the art of doin' nothn' beautifully - it's an art on its own !!!

You have to have skills... You have to have an iron will...
You have to live in 'one of those countries' or societies, which value tremendously this kind of efforts...

Doin' nothn' gracefully ???

You have to be a born artist to express yourself fully in that domain...

You have to be skilled...
You have to be gifted...

So, help her God !!!

(:-))))

Smile of the day !

Le temps de la sieste et du repos... Superbe, cette prise de vue, aux très belles couleurs.

A fabulous capture, Kristine. Simple but effective in composition, and amazing sharpness for 1/40th at 150mm if you weren't using a tripod (which I assume you weren't). Cheers . . . David

Hi Kristine, i was in this position all sunday long (too much tennis on saturday), as a scientist specialized in finding and calculating most relaxing position i can assure you this one is perhaps THE BEST ONE ;)
Love that shot, really great eye you have, and more than that you have your own way to pp it, just as needed, just enough saturation and contrasts, i do love your shots, you are a good photographer that's for sure

G'Day Kristine,

I love this photo; it is such a lazy, relaxed moment. I would have walked past this scene but you had the eye to see it and the mind to capture it! The pink/green combination is vibrant and lively which results in a pretty positive scene. I like how the colours are balanced by the darker void of the doorway. It is an enjoyable image to take in for a few moments and remember carefree times. Despite this, I am sure there is plenty of hardships experienced living in this jungle village. But for now, it looks like life is good. Great capture!

Hi Kristine,

Seems we have also missed lots of your good photos...:) Sorry...
This one is simply a masterpiece! Absolutely amazing colours and so great composition. You cought a great model:)
Perfect presentation in a very well chosen frame!

Good job Kristine,

Hmmm how nice it looks, how much I'd like to do that:-)

I love the minimalism of the composition, the array of colors nicely saturated, the textures, the old wood and her very modern look! Did she pose a bit do you think ? maybe she was waiting for a young man to pass by:-) (teasing).
Well seen and well done, it's a great capture of daily life!

Kristine,
This is so beautiful, so many different green tones combined with a lucky pink, even some pink buttons?? on the black short.
Wellseen and welldone.
And I like the philosophical approach of laziness in your title.
Kind Regards,
MArc.

Hello, Kristine,
this is simply wonderful. Not only a wonderful view of a sleepy village's daily life, but technically excellent. The colors are fabulous and I love the contrasting vertical lines in the wall and the horizontal ones of the bench and the lounging girl with the cool color of the building and the warm tones of the girl's skin, her clothing and the bench. This is a marvelous shot and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Many thanks and warm regards,
Shelly

Nice to have a sleeping beauty out in the open...

Ciao Kristine,
excellent shot with great colours and framing!
Well done!

Great title! This photo is very artistic indeed. The turquoise wall is great backdrop for her pink shirt and beautiful brown skin. The composition is perfect too with the use of lines and the dark entryway balancing out the photo. Nice one.

Hi Kristine
I like this picture. The colors are very beautifull. The contrast pink and green is excellent. Biut i like most the lazy atmosphere you get here.
Nice work
Thanks

Hello Kristine,

Hahaha, I just did a little series on TrekLens on people sleeping on the job in Indonesia. Seems that they also know how to sleep on the job. The laziest town of the jungle. Just imagine having that on a plate when entering the town! Not the biggest amusement park, or the nicest nature. No, the sleepiest town around :-).

Greetings!
Dennis

PS: THe sleeping on the job shots can be found here and here!

Ciao Kristine,
very funny scene captured and nice title.
Great colors and composition. Interesting note
Anna

Ha...great interpretation and title Kristine. The contrast between the "artist" with the bright pink and the green wall really makes for a strong focal point. I also like the angle, composition and placement of the girl in the frame.

Great work

Hi Kristine,
The crisp detail and bright colors make this a visual delight. The relaxed posture seems to announce "The livin' is easy." Like Barbara,
I don't think I've learned the art of
being lazy - but I'm working on it, . :-)

Hi Kristine,
I would love to be this young woman just hanging out and relaxing on this bench. I am beat from all of the photo shoots and from my day job. I am saving up my annual leave for this Summer and I haven't taken a day off work since the first of the year. Sometimes I think that people who live in less developed countries are smarter than we are, who reside in the "more advanced countries". This is a great shot and a good antedote for our stressed out lifestyles. Outstanding photograph!
