Ingapirca is a town in Cañar Province, Ecuador and the name of an Incan ruin site just outside the town itself.
The ruins are the largest Incan ruins in Ecuador. The most significant building is the temple of the sun, an elliptical shapped building constructed around a large rock. The building is constructed in the Incan way without mortar. The stones were simply chissled and fashiond to fit together perfectly. The temple of the sun was positioned so that on the solstices, at exactly the right time of day, sunlight would fall through the center of the doorway of the small chamber at the top of the temple. Most of this chamber as fallen down.

Hi Mario
It is a really amazing picture with the marvellous clouds. The stone in foreground is a good useful shape for leading our eyes to the building behind. Best regards ihsan

Hi Mario,
Great composition of this ancient Inca city, with good, low POV which make us feel as if we are in the old trench. The blue sky and clouds are an important ingredient in the image, and add a atmospheric mood to the result. Very well captured.
Cheers Grant

Hallo Mario!
Schönes Foto eines faszinierenden Ortes mit gelungener HDR-Anwendung.
Und eine kleine Kritik: Ich denke, dass du den Turm etwas zu mittig positioniert hast.
Beste Grüße
Andreas

hi Mario,
I keep finding these excellent photos from Ecuador in your galery, they definetly help me to get the idea of what to expect in less than three weeks :)
love the dramatic sky here and how it contrasts with the warm tones of the ruins. not sure about the huge foregorund though, I think I'd prefer either the boulder visible in its entirety, or not there at all, it's a bit distractive as it is now. but I do like the composition you've chosen with the maze of stone walls leading towards the structure in the center. very well seen and presented.
best,
Kristine

Hi Mario,
Just plain magnificent! How lucky to have been able to capture the beauty of these Incan ruins on such a beautiful day. The clouds are quite impressive. Good use of DOF.
