'street-wise' - another addition to my 2008 Jan 1st encounters theme.

no offense to the young man in the photo. just, if i was in charge of casting for a movie and i needed to pick a street-wise character from the crowd at the Basilica, this would be my number one choice. most likely he won't get much attention here though, but I needed him to diversify (character and expression wise) my new year's street shot series.

the capture was made in front of the Basilica de la Virgen de Agua Santa in Banos, Ecuador on January 1st of 2008. as i mentioned in an earlier post from this series, people from all over gather at the Basilica on this day.

Very impressive character. Well done.
TFS,
Carmem

Great shot of expressive mood on his face, and good composition in this pov.

Sharp and clean outline, well done.

Hello Kristaps,

As portrait is this certainly very well, but as model is not the best person out of the gallery.
Quality and sharpness are superb.
Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,
John.

Hi Kristaps,
this guy is a dead-ringer to one of Blondie's guitar players in the late '70s /early '80s... Only : he was clearly southern Italian.
Excellent shot again, perfect title. I'm really enjoying this streetlife series of yours.
Cheers,
Fulvio.

Hi Kristaps, you are very good in the casting department, they should hire you for some hollywood movie!! :). Good portrait, nice detail and composition.
Good job like usual!!

Daniel

Hi Kristaps,

I tried some captures like that in my last trip but none of them is suitable to a post in here...what I see here is a superb work from you. From dof to clarity, it's indeed a succesful portrait. Well done!
Regards,
Carlos

well, I've realised that I have no clue as to which photos would get attention on TE, I usually predict exactly the opposite. as with this shot - I thought that the guy that looks like Benicio del Toro in "Traffic" would be all the rage here. I like this shot a lot, not only because of the resemblance with the Academy Award-winning Puerto Rican, but because of the expression you've caught, the perfect sharpness and the unusual point of view that works really well.

best,
K.

p.s. now I see that Little Detail. huh. wild New Year's night, I guess.

Hi Kristaps,
The detail is impressive, looks like he may have been in a fight recently. The DOF is perfect. I also like the wide empty space in front of him, it matches his expression perfectly. I think I like this better than Jefe, my previous favorite. I think it's the great match between the isolation in his expression and the framing.
