Bonjour Kristaps,
une photo bien dans l'esprit du site, elle montre ce qu'on est obligé de faire pour protéger son territoire et ses biens, et on retrouve ces clotures et obstacles partout dans le monde.
Pas joli, mais interpelant.
Regards.
Daniel.

Nice post dear. Your photograph is depicting general human nature. It is true that we develop enmity with those who were sometimes very dear to us.

Hi Kristaps,
Very interesting with a insightful title. Not much brotherly love here.

Hi Kristaps,
this is a most unusual & most interesting picture. I would say it portraits one of those "lesser" facets of human nature. In Amsterdam you'll be able to find a bunch of dead-ringers to this wall. Broken glass meant, of course, to keep junkjes and assorted thieves off the property. A .44 Magnum would probably do a better job, but I'm afraid it's not considered politically correct over here... Oooops, my Clint Eastwood attitude betrayed me once again!
Your shot is absolutely fine with me.
Cheers,
F.

Hi Kris,
I think it's also important to go out from usual touristic views sometimes. This well shows something common everywhere in the world. Quality is very good with these impressive cutting glasses.
Very well done!

Hello Kristaps,
this fence i think belongs to two 'good' neighbors. Usually are used in Greece to private landed property,in the country.Nice the light and the colours as the record too.Informative your note.

Hi Kristaps
Very interesting observation of this glass-top fence, and well composed in this pov.
Probably saving the world by re-cycling the unwanted broken glass.
It also makes one wonder about such security feature.
Nice work, zmey and thanks for sharing it.
Cheers, bill

Hello Kristaps,
You are right about this not being a "pretty picture" but is is great photo which literally and figuratively captures the dark side of human nature. I am frequently amazed how the human race has survived as long as it has. This is a stunning and powerful photograph and an image which would make an excellent one for an essay theme in a creative writing class. Excellent work!

Kristaps,
this is a very common scene in Brazil. At least in the more poor urban areas. The aggressive protection might be an issue, but I also saw it as a very effective way not to keep away cats, birds and burglars. I never saw it as protective measure against neighbours. People in Brazil are very friendly and wouldn't do that because of the neighbour.

Kristaps-
I have also seen many similar fences in India.
However, they are used to keep the public out, not their neighbors out.
Photographically, not a wonderfully great image, but you have used telephoto compression very well. I would have liked to see the background a little more out of focus, but that's just personal preference.
I also realized that this is a "found" shot, and it probably wasn't worth the effort to go back for at a different time for better light.
Nice job with what you had to work with at the time.

I think...
Just think...
It has something to do with the animals entering the homestead... I think ???
The brick wall in un-penetrable on the bottom, so the animals (???) walk on the rigdes of the walls...
This way or another... Interesting contribution to the S. America customs and traditions ...
All the best, pal
george
Hi Kristaps,
it's such an unusual composition. I can tell you that we have this in Brazil too but here is not for the neighbors but for the thieves. They usually use your neighbor's house to get in yours. I really think your compo worth it. Nice to see the details of that "proctection" in a close view and good dof. Well done!

Carlos

Hi Kristaps,
Your fence is well-framed to show very graphic detail. The diagonal line against the softly focused BG really makes that glass pop sharply out!! I would like to think that the fence was built before there was a neighbor, but I know that's naive. It certainly doesn't encourage neighborly chats over the fence.

apart from the irony of the scene, I really like the different textures and patterns - the perspective created by the line of the concrete wall, the contrast between the shine of the glass and dull colour of the metal roofs in the bacground. quite a cacophony, but it's fascinating. very well seen :)
hugs,
K.
