just a simple daily life observation from the plaza san francisco in quito. people passing by... i could not resist... :)

--
location: backed by the white edifice of the monastery of san francisco, the cobbled plaza de san francisco is one of quito’s oldest and most impressive sights. located on the site of the palace of the inca ruler atahualpa´s son, auqui francisco tupatauchi, the plaza was used for centuries by indigenous groups as a trading center, or tianguez. the plaza and church that you can visit today was built between 1536 and 1580. built on a slight incline, it also affords fine views over the rooftops of southern quito.

Hi Kristaps,

hehe, very nice catch (and title). The composition has all those features to become attractive and dynamic...taking about the tilting, the light contrast between the the beauty and the 'beast' and the elements placement in the frame. I like this!
Abraço,
Carlos

the diagonals of light and shadow work perfectly to exaggerate the difference between the bright yellow clothes and relaxed posture of the girl and "all business" "don't mess with me" attitude of the officer, well spotted. I also quite like the elevated point of view that helps to create an interesting composition. very well seen and presented, my compliments.

K.

hi Kristaps,
Funny title :)
I also like the diagonale of your shot.

Hi Kristaps,
Well, to be honest, this is not my field of photography, so what can i say that makes sense to you ;-)
The tilt looks creative, but how i wished the beast would be looking in your lens, for me that would be perfect, but don't take to much notice on my words, i really have no eye for this ;-)
Regards, Henk

Hi Kristaps,

Wow...
That's a superb concept in frame, and which has the definite sense of your title.... but, isn't both beautifull in their own perspectives?
Excellent composition, and the high POV really strikes...
Dynamic !!
That's appreciated :)
All the best, dear friend.

Hi Kristaps!
So simple but so clever: the geometrical ground of the Plaza, the half cut picture - sun and shadow - and the way the beauty and the beast stand up - they seem to be posing for your photo!
Ah... the title matching to the scene is also a plus!
Very nice to see! Interesting!
TFS - Congratulations!

Kristaps,
Interest POV, what a contrast and that must be hard to control the light and dark. He is in the shadow and in dark uniform and she is in the light with bright outfit. You did great both side are nicely control with good details and sharpness.

Hi Kristaps,
a most original daily life shot, featuring very creative and SKILFUL use of light and diagonals to create contrast and impact between the beast and the beauty. Like Henk says, if the cop'd just been looking up... but that's all in God's hands.
I like what I see, very ingenious and well presented.
You have a great day, buddy!
See ya soon,

The Don.

Hi Kris,

very good idea. Original diagonal composition, the double difference dark/yellow anf shadow/light works well. I also like the ground pattern.

Magnífica composición con los dos personajes uno en el sol y otro en la sombra. Muy bien visto y con muy buenos colores y detalles.

Hi Kristaps,

Good timing for keeping them at shadow and sunny part under funny title while cobblestones are creating magazine texture there. Very clever one, congratulations.

hi Kristaps

A shot like this always leaves a lot of room to imagination and stirs creativity. What are they up to? Uniform at work, casual at play?

Light, shadow, contrast.

Hello Kristaps,

What a idea for this picture make diagonal, and only these two peoples to use.
Everything on TE must can, when the picture is sharp and clarity.
This is absolutely very good nevertheless very difficult through the two different parts, with sun and shadow.
Very well done, thanks for sharing.

Best regards,
John.

The Beast?? :o
Oh, c'mon Kristaps, she doesn't look THAT bad...
;))
I see what caught your attention here, nice juxtaposition of the opposites, in terms of light most of all, and the rest described perfectly by Kristine. I admit I wish for a bit different position of the subjects, her standing almost on his head bothers me a bit, but then again I assume you couldn't really choose a much different angle (plus you had to be rather quick catching this).
A nice one!
regards
Marija

Hello Kristaps! When it comes to street photography I very much like your approach and some weeks ago, before a meeting, I took out my coolpix that I have in my handbag and started to shoot like this in front of the hotel, hoping that nobody saw me (last time when I did that my boss recognized me but he had to laugh knowing me ...). The meeting went very well but the quality of the pictures were soso lala but there is no space in my handbag for the big baby and if I come to a meeting with my rucksack and tripod my boss probably thinks that I am completely mad ... well maybe I am :) What I like most is the half-half shadow-sun part, suiting her yellow shirt and his dark uniform. Cool stuff ... I like it ... Barbara.

Hi friend,
it would indeed be great if he was to look up, the beast:-))) but I understand very well what you meant to show, I like the tilt, but something makes me less enthusiastic of the framing, but I don't really know what:-). Nice "fotka" anyway,o) and I've taken the liberty of enhancing a bit the whole with a crop and saturation + frame. Hope you don't mind, I thought it was worth it. Enjoy your Sunday !!!

Warm regards
Michèle

Brook no argument do they? Interesting angle on this one, can't say as I love it, but the dark to bright light handling is very nice and the detail is awesome. Fine capture Kristaps.

Kritaps,
as you very well now this isn't necessarily my cup of tea. I took the New Year resolution to do more people shots this year and doing so far quite well but it is still a strange world to me. So, my critique might be a little bit off. Tilts are always something that gives a different appearence and sometimes I have the impression that it is being used to often just to make and ordinary shot look GREAT. Not quite sure in which category I would place this tilt. What certainly is quite interesting at this post is the two section: shadow and light, dividing the beast and the beauty. Unfortunately is latter in the range of overexposure and makes the shot somewhat weak (from my humble point of view).
Considering everything I still like it. I had some thoughts an inspiration for the future.

Hi Kristaps,
Very imaganative image with a very effective contrast to the traditional uniformed policeman and the brightly clad young lady all caught on this lovely old cobblestone walkway. The two figures caught in such differnt light makes for a striking image.

Hi Kristaps,
Happily for us you didn't resist :-) ! Yellow and black contrast with the diagonal are giving a nice composition. The attitude of the woman is just perfect, well seen, well done !
Regards,
Yves

fascinating how you managed to separate the two guys - one in a dark uniform standing in a shadow, and the other one - a woman in yellow standing in the light... this is what they call "coincidence"... or the others say "well 'scene"..."
best wishes, j.

Bonsoir,

why this slanted snap?!
why the face of beauty is covered?!
why so much light & shade differentiation?!
why this shot?! after all!!!
I'm sorry I cannot get any answer...

Hello,

Funny this photo build on the opposition:
- woman : man
- light : shadow
- tourist : worker
- color : black
This feeling is increased by the elements put on the opposite corners.
Good realization,

Yves.
