Hi Cristine,
Thanks for sharing this wonderful place. A crowded city in between hills, nice view you got here, the color of the buildings accentuate the overall picture. Well done.

Hi Kristine,
it's a lovely top view of Quito. The city looks colorful. I like to see all that on the buildings. Very good light management. So there was a lack of oxygen...but you hold your breath and took this attractive shot. Well done!

Hello Kristine,
the view is so sharp, the clarity is amazing, there is a real feeling of "being there". The composition is superb with these proportions buildings/mountain/sky, it comes out very fine, and that sky is very powerful. A lot of details to look at too.I just love looking at such scenes, yours is outstanding. Brava.
All the best.

Hi Kristine, this outstanding photo and your excellent note provide all the information to those who have no idea about Quito. Having been to the third highest capital (Addis Ababa), I know how difficult to adopt the body to the less-oxygenated environment.
Good work, thanks for sharing, Tolga

Hi Kristine, what a beautiful photo. I like that even that the main color is white, you can see all this different colorful buildings. Also, very nice shadows from the clouds but also nice sun light coming through.
Good job.

Hello Kristine
What a beautiful and stunning view. Your composition is really eye-catching, and so sharp. The light is perfectly managed to enhance the colored and impressive buildings. We can almost feel this busy city !
The moutains in the background give an idea of the location of Quito. A great shot.
Thanks for the travel.
Regards,
Karine
Dear Kristine,
I remember this spot were you stood here. I have a similair picture, which looks like this, but is not that good as yours here. You have great light on the city with rich colours, but also those clouds in the far background are working great in the composition and colour balance...very good.
Have a nice weekend, Henk
Hello Kristine,
A superb shot of the capital of Ecuador. I thought it was at high altitude, and I knew that La Paz is the highest. Your note puts the two cities in perspective. A university buddy lives there, and I will alert him to the existence of this excellent shot. Another friend who used to own a small airlines in South America used to tell me about the hazards of flying in an out of these two capitals, not only regarding the surround mountains, but the rarified oxygen for the plane engines. Excellent shot and note augmenting it,
Warm regards,
Bulent

hi Kristine
This is really high density population and very compact high altitude city, I guess it is very cool staying up here and a new experience for visitors. Good pov and I like the strong light over the city.

Kristine, nice shot, interesting how some of these city scapes work and some don't, the difference is very small. Yours works well.

hey there :))
lovely cityscape and i see you've compressed it to the TE size quite successfully (i think that aspect also deserves a big side note...). love the color you have managed to display despited broad midday high altitude daylight hitting the city. i like the play of cloud shadows too.
great note too. i especially liked the part about our silly decision to go 'higher' on the first day. i remember running out of breath every 50 meters or so... meanwhile, the local kids' gang was RUNNING back and forth around us :))
hugs,
k.

Hi Kristine,
Wonderful capture of this beautiful high altitude city that is seen in all modern and contrasting traditional beauty. The majestic mountains and story silver blue sky make for the perfect backdrop to this lovely image.

Hi Kristine,
this specific light over Quito is pretty damn amazing, to say the least. The shadowplay you managed to capture plays in a league of its own, and those skies in the background... too!
I know, you can call it lucky light. But without lucky light we'd be all shoveling manure for fun in a countryside field (or something), instead of taking pictures... Point is : you were there! Right time, right place, GREAT shot!
Cheers,
Fulvio.

Hi Kristine,
That's indeed a picture were light is playing a major role. Lots of little color (and light) spots all over this otherwise gray place.
Well done

Hello Kristine,
wonderful photograph with the patches of light and shade drawn by clouds, the exact kind of shot that always gets me.
Last time I was wondering how it was possible you managed to take a photo of the pope, today In was thinking about the great thing, that you, Latvian, can go to Ecuador. I mean, I am Czech and before 1989 it was impossible to travel to the west at all. It is perfect that times have changed.
Best wishes
Romana
hi kristine

Hello Kristine
Quito city does not look too appealing, like any other metropolis I guess. But what makes this picture a beauty is the light & shadow as they play over the concrete jungle. We do see the Pichincha in the backdrop covered by curtains of clouds that hug the slope. As always a very well written note...I think the altitude 'feeling' you talk about is the same what we get in Leh, a lovely place in the North of India, located at an altitude of 3500 meters. Tourists are advised to rest the first day they land, I think for the same reason you stated. A beautiful shot with an excellent note...what more can I hope for?
Best Regards

Hi Kristine,
You found a wonderful POV to overlook the city of Quito. A great pattern is created by the many roofs and buildings. Nice blueish tones in the background too of the sky and mountains. The light is really lovely too, well done!

Hi Kristine,
Good panoramic view about Quito. Observing your picture that is very well captured, it is possible to notice that the Quito is a city that seems to be placed on top of a great plateau and very high too, then I imagine that the air's humidity should be very rarefied, the where the human being feels difficulties of breathing. About the picture is very well composed with excellent lights and colors under a good POV. Well done. Best regards, Consuelo

Kristine,
Though I was in Quito for a couple of day passing through, but didn't get much chance to see the city. Your image here presents a very good immpress of it. I hope I have a chance to be back there again soon. Great city scene, with good composition, clarity and sharpness. I like the cloud hanging over the disstant mountians. Thanks

Hi Kristine,
lovely catch of that brief moment of sun! It shows city in all its diversity but still in common characteristic of bright colours. It is in beautiful contrast to vivid blue sky and diverse cloud formation, providing wonderful shadowed areas on the ground. The quality of photo is excellent to the extreme (as always :). City panorama at its best.
Warm regards,
Jeri
