Photographer’s Note
detail from the recently renovated Quito's cathedral. it takes the whole day to at least glimpse the marvels of the churches of Quito - the cathedral, Gothic Basilica del Voto Nacional, and the crown jewel - jesuit church La Compañía de Jesús.
to build the cathedral, the stone was brought down from Mount Pichincha West of the city, and with the enthusiastic colaboration of those who lived in the neighbourhood, work was completed between 1562 and 1565. however, in the current form the cathedral is the result of work carried out through the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. from 1802 to 1803, Bernardo Rodríguez worked on the four great canvasses now in the side naves: the miracle of the fish, St. Peter curing a beggar, the conversion of St. Paul, and St. Paul bitten by a snake.
the Cathedral of Quito contains a large number of valuable treasures, despite its modest appearance: the sculptured group known as "The Holy Shroud", one of the most harmonious of all Caspicara's works, the Virgin by Legarda, the group of the Denial of St. Peter, attributed to Padre Carlos, the legendary artist who carved the figure of St. Luke in Cantuña, in 1668, Miguel de Santiago painting of the death of the Virgin, on the wall behind the choir, and the series of portraits of past bishops on the walls of the chapter hall.

Hi Kristine, great photo, I like that you didn't frame this photo the normal way, The tilting gives it a different perspective that is very good.
Nice colors for an indoor photo.
Great job.

Hi Kristine,
good job indeed! the quality you managed to deliver is excellent with well visible throughout. The compo works very well with the tilted perspective adding an interesting point; I also like the tonal range, vibrant and very nice to look at.
Thanks for sharing and regards

Wow!
On top of being technically flawless : wonderful colors and a truly magnificent POV! I really, really like this one. I still have to properly dig through your gallery (and I will, little by little) but this is by far one of your best shots, in my not at all humble opinion (IMNAAHO).
Cheers,
Fulvio.

Colors, architecture, curved lines, slash lines, warm light (tungsten?) on the right low side, cold sky light on the left high side.
A perfect shot.
Cheers.

Hi Kristine,
What a great composition. One of my favorite compositional forms is the diagonal and you've really made great use of it here. I think that here it adds to the soaring look to the interior, which is further emphesised by the collums and other details. Nice colors and sharpness.

Hello Kristine,
I really like the colors and the angle of which you portray this shot. The blues and the golds show up really well. Great job with the slow shutterspeed as well.
Bravo,

Hej kristine
a different but very good POV, good colours and a nice light on the tip of the organ.
Maybe there's some question about the shadow at the frame work.
cheers //Anders

Hello Kristine,
This is great work and your use of the 45 degree diagonal composition is wonderful! I need to try this effect more often. The details, sharpness, and your well-crafted placement of all of the church details is very impressive. The church even appears to have pipe organ included (my favorite instrument). This photo does a great job of capturing this era of Early Spanish Colonial architecture. I will slowly browse through your interesting tour of Ecuador as I find the time. You are an excellent artist and technical craftsman. Well done!

Hi, Kristine -
Very nice mix of colors here, and the tilted view, while never my favorite, does force the eye to a "rule of thirds" point.
Great note, too!
Best,

Hi Kristine,
Imaginative angle exposes very elegant lines to this lovely Ecuadorian architecture.
The vividly clear colors contrast and compliment in the strong light.
Sharpness and details are superb.

Hello Kristine
The ornate details are beautiful. Love how you used tilt in this shot to make this very creative. The pipe organ is an interesting detail I observe. Light seems to be coming from a window to the left. Your exposure control is excellent especially when we see so much details in the shade below, yet no evidence of OE at the top. Fine work!

Angshu
