[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
about 45% of ecuador's population is under 18 years of age; for many of them the street is THE home (playground, school, you name it).

photo taken from atop el panecillo (the little bread loaf), the ever present hill to the south of the old town quito (centro historico as the locals call it).

Hi Kristaps,
Nice journalistic photo, and I find the note useful as well - didn't know that Ecuador had such a young population!
Cheers,
Tudor

Hello Kristaps
You present here a sad reality. Your picture illustrates well what you say.
Details and colours are excellent.

Hi, Kristaps!
You couldn't have chosen a better title for this one. Outstanding contrast between those United Colors and the surroundings' green/grey.
Also : the pictures gives straight away an idea of local life/living conditions.
Hope you guys are having a good time!
Say hello to Kristine.
I'll see you soon,
Fulvio.

Hi Kristaps,
In this photo, the modern guard rail with the children clearly unimpressed by the steep drop from which it supposed to protect them is the heart of the photo; although the clothes add a bright note to this grey day.

Hi Kristaps,
It's an amazing capture about these kids that play at this place. Beautiful colors and contrasts; your note is very interesting, too. Regards, Consuelo

I like the strong diagonal lines in this shot, formed both byt the railing and also the road, it adds a nice feeling of movement to the scene that goes well with how kids the kids stand. I also like the partial desaturation, it certainly helps to focus attention to the children and their different postures. each of them seems to tell a different story, but all together for some reason they remind me of Card's version of street "families" in futuristic Amsterdam (for those not familiar with Orscon Scott Card and his "Ender" books - lucky you, I'd give a lot to be able to experience the discovery of those books).
best,
K.
