Photographer’s Note
Well, actually I planned to post some more pictures of the volcanoes around Quito but now I decided to first post this impressive sight. For me this is one of the best airplane images I took so far! Being so close it breathtaking...
It's the daily Iberia flight from Madrid to Quito on an Airbus A340-642 (EC-IOC). The length of this plane is more than 75m and the wingspan is almost 64m. It is the longest plane in the world and even longer than the new A380 in its basic version. The maximum weight of 380t is amazing... Quito is probably one of the best airports to shoot pictures of airplanes because you get really close to the action and you feel the wind when the plane passes 20m above your head. Truely an incredible feeling having all that metal above your head!

So near the street! Impressive! The orange line of the plane is beautiful in contrast with the dark clouds! The composition is great, and you got is just at the right time!

Spectacular shot. You have captured plane, cars and even a cycle in one photo. The plane is looking so huge due to its proximity from the surface.

This is quite good. The effect is quite dynamic and the range of distortion only adds to the effect. I also like the muted colors...nothing outlandish, just straightforward. The direction of the jet on the direction that the cars are travelling make for a nice contrast. Very well done.

Hi Andreas,
Although tha bottom part of the frame is not attractive, it gives a good idea of the height and dimensions here. Perfectly framed shot of this big bird. What a sight! Not quit St. Maarten but still.

Hi Andreas,
What an extrordinary photo. Beautifully positioned in the picture the plane is sharp and showing good colour. It's a wonder the ground doesn't shake when it passes over.
Well done,
Peter

hello, andreas. a great shot and timing in a sense that there is no lead room left for the plane in your picture so the net effect is a feeling of a plane falling on top of the cars. TFS.
cheers,

Hi Andreas,
This is an amazing shot. You can truly appreciate the unbelievable size of that monster and acnnot help ask yourself how the hell it can lift itself from the ground.
