This picture has an incredible mood Henk. The foreground is a bit dark, but the curve of the hill really balances the good composition. The sky has an intense character, but it is that flash of light that amazes me. It's awesome. It seems that God is looking for something with a flashlight. It is so well exposed. And the rainbow colors... You really are a master with these difficult light conditions. That's that Flemish blood I am sure! :)

Hoi Henk,

Ik vind dat Luis het mooi verwoord: "It seems that God is looking for something with a flashlight." Zo lijkt het inderdaad en adembenemende 15 seconden goed dat je dit direct kon vastleggen, puur geluk hebben.
Mooie plaat weer :)

The picture is fantastic!
The colours of the rainboy are so strong and I like the way the rainboy shine its laser shine towards the city.
Incredible.
This is not just luck, but also your knowladge of framing, of using the polariser and of patience to be able to make such a shot.

indrukwekkende foto. Zowel de verlichting van de stad als door een enorme spot als het breken van het licht heb je hier prachtig in beeld gebracht. De compositie met de berg en de palm is ook erg mooi.

Dag Henk,
Wat ik zeer bijzonder vind in de foto is de mooie diagonale lijn welke de aarde belicht, het is bijna grafisch vastgelegd, tevens de kleine periode dat u de regenboog zag, en daar nog een mooie foto kan van nemen is wel vrij bijzonder. Het is een merkwaardige foto, maar zeer goed gedaan!

Oh my God. If this is not the most magnificent scene I have ever seen with a rainbow, then I wonder what is!
That ray of sunlight deep into the darkness and that bright rainbow are simply and completely amazing.
It is almost like a higher being that is beaming some sort of ray of hope and light into the darkness of this planet. It is a simply majestic picture. I am simply blown away by the magnificence of this shot.
I think the darkness all around, especially in the FG works really wonderfully well here, and that palm tree on the right creates a really strong anchor and size measure.
Wonderful.

The blow of heart of the day, which splendid light, in a life, one does not see of them tens like this one...
That was to be one magic moment!
It is rather incredible to see this small end of rainbow, lost a little and with this light which transpierces it to arrive on these houses.

What a light you have captured here. The way the ray of the light seems to come from the rainbow leading down to the town looks amazing - a short lasting moment that you captured so well - really lucky too :O)

mogguh Henk,

waanzinnig licht hier! helemaal TOP. soms hoef je niet ver te zoeken of lang te reizen naar de mooie platen. de linker berghelling is misschien niet enorm interessant maar het geeft wel een lijn door de foto. maar hoe meer ik ernaar kijk, hoe meer mijn aandacht toch weer gaat naar de regenboog en verder naar rechtonder, met het licht mee. denk dat de cropping goed is geweest anders zou de onderkant wel te donker kunnen zijn om de aandacht op het licht te houden!
prachtig al met al, een juweeltje.

My last smiley of the day goes to this awesome photo, and it is awesome not because of the obvious beauty of the rainbow, but also because of your composition, with two diagonals: one of the earth and one of the sky! Clever crop, really! And the light ray almost seems to be of a projector...

What a beauty! It looks as if the light is coming from the rainbow and if my memory of school science serves me correctly it's the other way round. You certainly were in the right place at the right time, but you needed your skill to know how to best capture the image in a hurry. I think your crop was judicious as the palm on the right is just enough to balance the hillside.

I guess you know that this one is stunning! I find it a bit dark but the darkness adds to the wonderful contrast you get with the rainbow. The composition is flawless.
I think it could be sharper but, on the other hand, softness is a concept here, why not go all the way with it?
I just discovered your gallery. It is umbelievable! I would like to critic more of your picture...but only one for today, so I add you to my favorites so I get informed when you are active and also to remember coming back to see your gallery.

lovely light ... where the gods looking for something? ;o) ("where on earth is that photographer??? ... let's 'give' him something, maybe he finally shows his face" ;o) ... first, one sees the rainbow, then the light towards it (or coming from it?) and when one's eyes finally accept the strange but so beautiful miracle one gets to see more details, tiny palm trees, even tinier houses, lots and lots of tiny signs of tiny mortal life in the distance
