Los Frailes Beach, Machalilla National Park
This is how the story goes: The woman, the woman's husband and me.
We all boarded the bus from a small fishing town named Puerto Lopez about 30 kilos from away. We stop to get some refreshments and some chips. As the bus rattle'd on, we walked across the road to recieve a mid-day's entertainment consisting of a pet-parrot and two children of muse. The callous'd foot madamn who owned the place was very hospitable. I had shot video from my camera of this amuseing parrot displaying his/her many talented tricks. But to this day, I am lost of where this video might be.
2 Kilometers north, after the owner of the refreshment establishment directed us, we walked until we found the opening of a pathway through the thin wall of trees and double layer'd, barber'd wire that lay on the ground from many of an intrusion.
$7 dollars richer each, we travelled the path until it split, we took the split that was many times gravel travelled. About 15 minutes North, we hit a sign that said, "Los Frailes" and pointed towards the destination upon which we were destine'd.
Through narrow dirt rock'd, catus & flower'd, San Pedro(hallucinogen)shrub-like pathways, we finally hit open space. There was tiny pebbles every where. I looked up; and yes, there was the ocean; but to get to it, we had to travel over the black sand and two tourist from "New York" with a spanish accent. The Man wouldn't shut up about his life in New York; so I left to explore the unknown; the woman followed. The woman's husband stay'd, to later as he said, "Practice my English." I took many pictures that day, mostly of the woman posing with rock and water; but the shot displayed here was my own testament on how wonderful and tranquil the place had became for me; especially when the woman's husband came back around. I miss her honesty.
This shot was taken of a cove, after I venture'd down from a high coral-rock like formation in which waves crashed upon to hop from one giant stone to another; I couldn't get any closer; the water was to fierce. Don't let the angle decieve you, IT is steep. VERY, Very dangerous to venture in the waters around this area. Indeed- too dangerous. The shot is tilted abit because I placed the camera as low as my concentration could go without falling. I hope this representaton shows some of the beauty and mystic that had layed before my eyes in that whimsical day of my past.
The other story: "Los Frailes is also part of Machalilla National Park and is a series of beaches and trails. Machalilla National Park is the only protected area in Ecuador which includes representative samples of tropical dry forest. La Playita has black sand, is open for swimming and snorkeling, and is a great place to collect shells. Playa de Los Frailes is about 7 miles of white sand and have calm waters for swimming. Los Frailes is located about 19 miles north of Puerto Lopez. We bought a tour in Puerto Lopez which was really just hiring a truck to take us to Los Frailes and pick us up. Our driver picked us up at Alandaluz and took us to the Los Frailes office where you pay a small entrance fee. Then you are pointed to a small dirt road, where you walk until you get to a stream. You follow to stream to the beaches. The walk is about a mile or two. Bring sandals as you are walking through the stream, not to the side of it and the rocks on the bottom are pretty sharp."

By the way, "Los Frailes", means "The Friars".,
And the girl, the girl's husband: well, they are divorced. Me: well I am still wanderin', married with child, lovin' and livin'-all the while, missin' that tranquil land of ecuador once again.

Witaj Michael!
Wonderful place. Beautiful colors and light. I like the frame and composition. Good work.
Regards
Krzysztof

I like the colors and the diagonal lines in this image. At first I was irritated by the tilt of the image, but I think it works here because of the lines in the rocks and the outcrops between the sandy patches. Somehow the rock formations have something delicate, and I first thought "frailes" may indicate something "fragile", but my spanish dictionary tells me that "frailes" means "monks". Still I like the combination of cool and warm colors, rock and water, standstill and movement.

Michael, c'est une très belle photo qui fait penser à un tableau tellement les couleurs sont excellentes. J'aime cette gamme de bleus très doux du premier plan en opposition avec les ocres des rochers du second plan.

hello MICHAEL.
exellente composition!
good shot !
bravo!
aldo.

Hello Michael,

Les textures de l'image sont vraiment belle ! Les formes des pierres se marient bien entres elles et l'eau en mouvement apporte du dynamisme à l'image !
Très belle photographie !

Hello Michael,

Gorgeous combination of colours and a great angle.

The small green plant gives a nice sense of perspective. Interesting photographers note.

Would like to see more landscapes/seascapes in your portfolio.

Best and thanks,
