The marine iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatus) is an iguana found only on the Galápagos Islands that has the ability, unique among modern lizards, to live and forage in the sea, making it a marine reptile. The iguana can dive over 9 m (30 ft) into the water. It has spread to all the islands in the archipelago, and is sometimes called the Galápagos marine iguana. It mainly lives on the rocky Galápagos shore, but can also be spotted in marshes and mangrove beaches.

I don't know how familiar marine iguanas are with people (I didn't even know they existed:) so can't tell if this is a difficult capture but it surely is very well composed and very interesting. How intriguing that the iguana has the same colour as the sand but stands out as 3D in your photo. The sea behind it provides mild but attractive contrast. The sharp textures give the photo striking vividness and you've even achieved eye contact:) Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely week,

Happy to see you back on Te Alexandre, marine iguana is an endemic species of Galapogos archipelago, the only one able to dive and search food in sea water
Excellent report from that place
Have a nice day

This is a fascinating animal and you have captured it well with perfect sharpness between the dark rock and the light blue sea. I guess it's a quite harmless creature, but I still wouldn't go too close to it. At least I get the impression it is rather large.

This is an amazing place, Alexandre, I though it was about to be closed by authrities this year, so I red somewhere.
Fabulous camouflage this big Iguana has, same as the vulcanic soil color around. And, it was looking at you with an intriguing look...

I love to observe animals in nature, especially wildlife, and I am delighted to browse through your gallery and find some excellent specimens !
I believe Darwin found these animals very ugly when he visited the Galapagos. But who are we, to determine what is ugly or beautiful ?
I like this huge lizzard.
Thanks for sharing.

Your up close view of the Galapagos Iguana attracts my past biological studies from the university, especially the emphasis on Charles Darwin's studies.
I dream of making it here someday.
Nicely composed and created,

I have the impression of standing in front of the "doorman" at the gates of hell, given the ashy look of this giant reptile!
Quite a terrifying specimen indeed that could pass unnoticed if it wasn't of the blue backdrop!
So from now on, I decide to lead a well-ordered life to avoid such strange encounter!!
Thanks for the warning!
Abraços from Canada.
