Photographer’s Note

The Quilotoa crater is another volcano of Ecuador. It culminates at 3914m, located at about thirty kilometers west of Latacunga, capital of the province of Cotopaxi. It is located at the south of the Western Cordillera.

The first historical eruption of this volcano occurred on November 28, 1660. Another eruption would have occurred in 1859.

As in Cotacachi, the Quilotoa volcano has a splendid lagoon, which one reaches by a footpath (altitude 3800 m).

I strongly recommend to you to make famous "the Quilotoa loop" (Tigua, Quilotoa and Chugchilan), a superb excursion passing by splendid canyons! It is ideal for the acclimation before climbing a summit of this country.

I am in Quito now and hoping to do the Quilotoa loop once I get back from the Galapagos!!

I like your photo, particularly the reflections captured in the lake surface, but I find the extreme cropping top and bottom a little claustrophobic. A bit more depth from the foreground would have helped. Also the clouds are a bit blown out / overexposed, which is a shame.

Still, a nice photo, TFS.

Superbe et grandiose ce paysage, avec le large format on en prend plein les yeux avec une grand plaisir, splendide couleur et excellent effet avec ces reflets.
