Back from a two-months-long trip in South America, now I'm full of memorable experiences that I will probably relive in my dreams still many times. And I have some photos that will hopefully help me to share with all of you these wonderful experiences.

I started my trip in Ecuador, and one of the first "big wonders" that I have seen was the Cotopaxi volcano, south of Quito. This giant (almost 6000 metres) is quiet at the moment, but according to the scientists (and the local people) it could erupt at any time. The photos can not really show its huge dimensions. Just to have an idea: an average walking tour around the volcano lasts more or less a week... Well, I was a bit lazy in this case, as I visited the area by a 4WD car of a local agency.

The picture was taken from the shores of the Laguna Limpiopungo, at about 3000 metres of altitude (sinking slowly but continuously into the marsh while taking the photo - well, it was a bit wet experience...).

Pefect shot Andras!.... you chose very good composition with the reflection .... an I like the wide focus

Hi Andras,
Great peaceful landscape! The colours and the contrasts are really good. I like the reflection of the snowy summit on the water. TFS
Delphine

Wow. The volcano looks really nice against the lovely blue sky. The low lying clouds almost look like lingering smoke from the volcano's past. What really interests me here is the marshy foreground. It is very interesting in itself, but the idea of marsh juxtaposed with the idea of the mountain and the sky is quite striking. The mountain, sky and clear reflection are all very neat and clean where the marsh is messy and dirty. I would not normally associate the two - which makes this compostion interesting.
Thanks for the experience of Ecuador!

Hi Andras,

You show us a lovely photo, the composition is perfect, I like the reflection of the mountain in the water, is a precious landscape, great shot! TFS

Hi, Andras! What to say about this pic? Beautiful is the word! Nice composition, colours and sharpness. A breathtaking landscape and a fairy tale volcano! Well done! Greetings from Rio! Miguel.

Awesome shot Andros!

What a beaufitul looking mountain. Amazing sweeping sides leading to the snow capped peak. The forground is icing on the cake.

Great stuff Andros, keep up the good work!

Hi Andras,

I feel like saying, "out of this world," but of course it isn't. It all fits together to create a magical view. If you had to go out of your way to get this, it was worth the while, because the reflections of the volcano's peak, and the marsh really give this incredible scenery that little extra push. I've been keen on South America ever since I visited Paraguay and Brazil a decade ago, but I've never seen a photo of Ecuador like this one. For that I thank you.

;-D

Hey Andras, you took taht shot from the route to refugio, right? I went there 3 weeks ago but I saw nothing of Cotopaxi, nothing. but clouds! I swear I was angry as... well, great that you can show me what I missed that day! We decided to go up to the refugio 2 because of the weather. Did you do it? How was it? Your shot is amazing but you are right that it doesn't really show it's dimension. It is gorgeous even when you just see the lower half of it!
TFS
Andreas

Hello Andras,
This is just amazing! The view, the colours and the reflexions are so well captured by you!
There is notso much to say about this one, the photo speaks by itself.
Cheers.
Paulo

Hello,
SUPERBE!
Excellent composition! The colors are amazing. congratulations.
Greetings.
Igor

Beautiful shot, Andras!
Compositionaly, perfect! The peak poking behind the shreded clouds, it's reflection in the marshes and the deep blue skies (polarizer??) enhance the contrast of the snow peak with it's sorroundings...The wide angle here creates SO MUCH depth you can actually feel you are sucked into this amazing place..
A fav, no doubt!

Really spectacular scenery Andras, and very well captured.

Hi Andras ,
I'm going to Ecuador in few days and I'm eager to take good pictures like that! I would especially like to do a good one from the top!
Beautiful shot! The little houses between you and Cotopaxi give an idea how huge is this volcano.
