Photographer’s Note
a vista across the lagoon of limpiopungo near the great volcano in cotopaxi national park. the lagoon is the first attraction visitors encounter after entering the park through the main entrance.
foreground: some overgrown limpiapungo water-grass (not sure what the correct english name for it is); background: the stratovolcanoe cotopaxi itself (the second highest summit in ecuador standing proud at 5,897 meters), with some clouds "emerging" from it. by the way, the little dots at the far edge of the lagoon is actually a herd of cows.*

a shot with the fancy motorbyke of the herdsman of this herd i posted a bit earlier.

Hi Kristaps,
the luminosity of this great image is superb. Incredible how you and your D300 managed that cloudy sky to get the result you present in here. The scene is fantastic in its beauty. Well done!

Hi Kristaps,
What about cloning and filling up that part on the left (green grass) with more red grass and cutting out a bit from the bottom? It's just an idea which i had in mind seeing this on large size. But i like the image a lot in colour and of course those huge clouds scattering the landscape, and that small patch of blue is just that small piece what is needed to make the difference...very nice.

Hi Kristaps again!!! another nice photo. I like how the clouds are taking part of the peak of the volcano. Nice composition. You had been on really cool places from your Ecuador trip.
Keep posting.

Hello Kristaps,
Those amazing high altitude tropical clouds kept on following you around. These storm clouds probably made your journey a little uncomfortable at times but they made for some great photography. That volcano is massive. Kristine had a photo which captured its 2 mile crater. Amazing. This is a great shot and I like the fact that you included the grass in the foreground which added some strong vertical lines to compliment the curves of the hills and the mountain and also added some reds to compliment the greenery. This is a most interesting series. Excellent work!

Bonjour Kristaps,
Best regards.
Daniel.

Hello Kristaps
The details are impressive and the point of view too. The orange-red herbs in the foreground are a good idea. I like the bit of vivid blue sky. Nice place! Nice job you did!

I agree that uninterrupted red in the foreground would make for a more pleasing composition, but for me that's not a major point. nicely layered scene, it certainly adds depth, but what I like best here are the colours on the slope of the volcano - love those elegant greens and grays, the mountain looks as soft as a seal's fur. very, very nice, my compliments.
best,
Kristine

Beautiful landscape, Kristaps. Nice to see all those heavy clouds and "mist"ery on that wonderful mountain. The blue hole is also important to add depht, braking the white/gray wall. The yellow/red meadow is a very nice detail. Great shot!

Hi Kristaps,
WOW! I see that I've missed quite a few spectacular shots from you, hopefully I will catch up soon. I especially like this one for the wonderful scenery that you've managed to capture here. The clouds are gorgeous. Lovely composition too, keeping the grass in the FG to add the contrast was a great idea.
WEll done,

Hi Kristaps,
A beautiful landscape with pleasant colours. Especially the red foreground works well. The low, and rather impressive clouds look also great around the mountain peak. Great photo, thanks for sharing!

Hi Kristaps.
I like the way you composed this picture by allowing the viewer to enjoy the nice water-grass in the lagoon at the foreground. The landscape is really amazing and impressive and the clouds make the place even more scenic.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello Kristaps
Did you use a polarizer here?...I can see a small part of blue sky. The clouds play an important role here. The clouds centre of right in the valley looks like a huge wave has just crashed. Like the colours here & your inclusion of a large FG with the water-grass. But is the lagoon shallow?..checked Kristine's post of a lagoon, which looks more like a caldera lake. A most interesting set of pictures both of you are posting & I'm learning something new everyday. Excellent post.

Hi Kristaps,
I love the way the red reeds fill the FG and that snaking valley running up into the mountains. That avalanche of clouds is spectacular; it looks like it will soon bury you. I guess from your note with the running horse that it did. In addition to the great framing, the color and detail is wonderful.
