Photographers Note
Little Mermaid ... not in Copenhagen ... If you leave the habour of Categena in direction to the Isla Rosario you meet this little lady which remembers to the "lille havfrue" in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Sorry for the poor quality. The statue was very far away and taken from a driving small boat and a Canon IXUS300 with maximal digital zoom.
Cartagena de Indias is a town founded in 1533 by Pedro de Heredia. It was one of the first foundation of Spain in South America.

Hi Achim,
maybe the sharpness is not perfect but the subject of your shot is very interesting: I thought that this statue was typical of Denmark.
But I must say that the amazing colours of this sea make a great landscape for the little mermaid!
I like a lot!

Hi Achim. The idea is interesting, but the photo has a lot of grain, I never use the digital zomm of the camera because it. In other way, I think about the situation of the lady that it would be better on the right and inferior part of the picture. I hope you dont mind the comment. I have done a WS to make better the frame, it is only my opinion.

Good efforts Achim. But clarity was defeated perhaps due to digital over zooming. You missed it. So did we. Otherwise it would have been a lovely one. Regards.

Hi Achim
Indeed a little bit different from the views I currently present but nice as well and with killing blues, looks a little bit pixellated above the backgoud coast on my screen
Have a nice day JY

It's a shame the digital zoom has reduced the quality of the image, but it is well worth showing us this remarkable statue as something not many people know about. The different shades of blue are very attractive.

Hi Achim!
This mermaid seems really a wonder and I really like all these tonalities of blue. Just a pitty because of the zoom but I like it very much.

The many tones of blue catch my eye before the mermaid, her home before her -- which does seem right to me.
Great image, superb sharpness

Hi Achim,
well seen. A curious place for such a copy. However you could expect a mermaid in a place like this.

Achim,
Without colors and your note, I'd have thought this was Copenhagen :o) !
A nice one, colors are eyecatchers.

Hi Achim.
The quality is not so poor, at least for the TE size, and I like the way you present this sub-monochromic picture.
You could perhaps have cropped-out the slightly disturbing element at the extreme left to enhance the balance of the composition, but that's a detail.
Thanks fr sharing!

Quite suprising !! The poor quality is not really a problem here. It works thanks to the beautiful blue. I just regret the pillar in the crop on the left.

My first thought was really to see the little mermaid in Copenhagen. I learned today that there is also on in Colombia. Actually the color of the sea matches better with latter. As you already mentioned in your note the digital quality is really not the best. Probably descentralizing the mermaid placing her more to the right and showing more the pole in the left side would have been better.

Hola Achim.
Despite the maximal digital zoom used in this shot you got a very good one, the turquoise color of the sea is beautiful, also the statue was well captured. Good composition with the pelican in top of the pole.
Well done. TFS.

Hello Achim
Never mind the quality, the digital zoom effect, you show us a place, not seen by many...It works thanks to the beautiful shades of blue.

Heey Achim,
This is great! If I see this beautiful monument uninformed, I could think that it's real! :)
I like it so much, thank you for your wellinformed photo.

Hej Achim
Świetne ujęcie -Turkus przecinający błękitną taflę wody jest bardzo wyrazisty a ta chłodna figura dryfuje lekko, że nie czuje się jej ciężaru.

Hi Achim!
Colombiana wrote a critique of my photo 86: "The little Mermaid" in Copenhagen! At the same time, she sent me a link to your photo of the one in Cartagena de Indias! It's not as famous as the "Lille Havfrue", but it's interesting to know that it exists!
It's obviously more difficult to photograph, because it's out at sea, instead of on the beach like in Copenhagen!
However, I like the situation in the middle of the big blue sea, and it's an appropriate photo for the "internatinal day of women". TFS.
Best regards.
MarieLouise.
