Superb shot. Perfectly executed, incredible clarity & sharpness. The Moon & it's craters, mountains & ridges look amazing, and of course it's complimented by Saturn off in the distance. I've seen shots similar to this before, using the same technique but not as clear as this one. Well done!

I'm sorry but I think this breaks the rules of TE. It doesn't tell us anything about our world. Please take it off.
Ha-ha, just kidding! Stunning photo! Is it really one picture or a combo in photoshop? The reason I ask is the edge of the moon is out of foucus but Saturn is perfect... but I don't know anything about this kind of photography...Either way, Excellent job!
PS - This IS a two photo composition! Look at how the light falls on the moon and how it falls on Saturn. I'm sorry, but I think you should make a note of that in the caption. It's still nice photography, though.

Very nice shot of the out-of-Earth space.
It's so beautiful
jmcl (14535) 2007-03-01 22:46
wondrous image. .. the way they sit in the frame is just tremendous .. and the near to far is amplified by the detail on the moon against the diffuse light of the distant planet.

This is an astounding astrophotography image! Having the Moon and Saturn so sharp is an amazing technical feet! This is the sharpest and most dramatic photograph of a near occultation that I have ever seen! You should have recieved 10x the comments that you have received for this fantastic shot. This is an extraordinary image which takes an astrophotography master to create (a 16" cassegrain helps)! Outstanding!
mdetay (4863) 2010-03-24 9:49
Excellent shot. Congratulation.

Years ago I was part of an astronomy club and we were working with TRI-X film inside an Olympus OM-1. But we never succeded in managing a shot as clear and as precise of a lunar conjunction with Saturn. You master your art. An incredible shot and a great photo. Congratulations!
