Ceiba Cuyabra
--------------
Ceiba is a botanical genus of flowering plants with 48 species belonging to the family of the Malvaceae.
The ceiba tree was considered sacred among the various pre-hispanic cultures of Mesoamerica area, such as Maya, Pipile, Nahua, and so on.
According to the worldview of these indigenous peoples, La Ceiba or Yaaxché, as you call in the Mayan language, the universe is structured in three planes, which are communicated through the sacred ceiba.
Likewise, according to the Mayan belief, are branches of this tree which allow the opening of the 13 heavens.
Precisely because of the importance that this tree represented for the Mayan people and other peoples Mesoamerican, used these planted in squares of their towns.
This takes up to one of the aspects both located in the central city of Armenia, capital of Quindio department.
Although I admit that the sky was not the best, because they appreciate burned areas, due to the time when it was taken (on-hour half day), the depth side of the street and inmesidad tree, called my attention.
Equally, I hope that is agreeable to all
John

Huge tree and seems bizarre to see this in this in the middle of the city. But it's stands tall and it seems guarding over the city. Very good pov, the sky is not a problem here, i only found those branches a bit over sharpened for my taste but still a great shot.

Hi John,
I saw Ceibas in Yucatan, but ist must have been another species, the parts of the branches were straight, remifying in hard angles. This one looks softer, with curves. A fascinating plant, it´s easy to understand that it is a holy tree when you see it.

Olá John,
Árvores enfeitam qualquer lugar . Essa é soberba no meio da cidade e um ótimo lugar para relaxar e apreciar o dia-a-dia das pessoas que passam por lá.

Yes the clouds are over exposed but all our attention is take by the huge tree. It almost fills the frame and in comparison the buildings and the other trees are tiny. Interesting post.

John,
This is a great shot of this majestic tree. Your composition is great placing the tree to one side and showing the street and city buildings. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and detail.

Hi John!
What a beauty this giant tree!
Right in the middle of a city, that's interesting, welcome and nice: preservation, shadow/temperature control and a gift to the people!
I really liked the picture!
TFS - Congratulations!
Best regards,

Hola, John!
This is a most interesting tree that you have captured here and presented to us. I like the way you have set it against the background of vivid blue sky interspersed with clouds. I also like how you have given us the buildings and street and people for perspective. Clearly, this celba tree dwarfs everything around it. Congratulations on a well-composed image.

Hi John,
This is a beautiful photo from this place with a wonderful tree, which is well placed on the right hand side of the composition. The colours are also pleasant and look very natural. The light is fine too. Well done!
