On the northern coast of Colombia lies the city of Santa Marta. A one-hour Busride to the northeast and two hours of walking through the Selva, being eaten by mosquitos, brings you to the Parque Tayrona, a protected national park in the Colombian northern Caribbean region, named after the indigenous tribe of the Tairona who used to - and still - live in this region!

The park stretches along the coast between the sea and the mountain range of Santa Marta (an impressive view). It offers three campsites to an rapidly growing amount of backpackers from all over the world! Imagine: Only some ten or even five years ago, only few travelers went to the park, due to the high possibility of being kidnapped by Guerilla forces.

The parque Tayrona today, besides being one of the most beautiful natural sites in Colombia, is also a proof of how rapidly this country is changing, showing it's true beauty to the world.

I took the picture as a HDR (High Dynamic Range) in the early morning, because starting from 7am, it was getting to hot in the tent and anyways i didn't want to many people in the picture :)
