Cerro de Monserrate.
This is one of the peaks (3160m) in the mountain range flanking the city to the east and overlooking the Sabana de Bogota. It's easily recognizable by the church crowning its top.
Monserrate has become a mecca for pilgrims, due to the statue of the Senor Caido (Fallen Christ), dating from the 1650s to which many miracles have been attributed. The church was erected after the original chapel was destroyed by an earthquake in 1917.
The view of the city from the top is superb. On a clear day you can spot Los Nevados, the volcanic range in the Cordillera Central.
There are three ways to get to the top: by teleferico (cable car), funicular railway or on foot along a path. |

Hi Maria,
Fascinating shot. This is a very fine observation and splendid realization. Picturesque composition and excellent POV.

I like your this picture.
The composition of spherical arc and vertical column forming a nice photo with the background of blue sky and green mountain. It is wonderful. Frames added appropriately with harmonic colours. The only thing I want to correct is the name of the author should be lowered down so as not to crash on the frame. TFS.

Hi Maria. Great lines and fine composition. Nice framing too. You have an eye for POV and composition i all your pictures, good work. Regards Jens :-)
Not what I expected from Bogota. It looks so peaceful and free from chaos. A beautiful shot. Nice composition and colours.
Have a nice weekend,
Nino
Hi Maria, what a fascinating juxtaposition of this wild mountainscape and the clean forms of the architecture. The framing is very precise, I allways like that. Beautifully done!
Have a nice week,
Bert

Hi Maria,
An interesting and creative compo to get this view through the natural framing of these arches. Vertical framing works well here, colors and sharpness are fine.
Chevere!
