One of the many high-rises in which the rich of Medellin, Colombia inhabit. I will post a picture of the housing in which the poor live. According to the locals, there is no middle class.
Again, this is what I have been told by my friend who is a citizen of Medellin, so if this information is incorrect, my apologies. |

Man, you can't get a break with a comment.
Alright, I read the thread you have with John and I agree and disagree with the the "pictures suck". maybe they are not the best quality but they do show some good quality with the angle and subject you show us. This is a nice picture imo and maybe need some more contrast and sharpness but is not bad. I find the perception that there is middle class interesting. I know there is a middle class in Latin America, and maybe is not as large as the poor class but is there, and is composed of people who work in offices. Nice work Elizabeth :-)

Hello Liz
I think the photo could have been better, the angle is not bad, but getting a better view of the old bus or better yet of a person might have added some interest to the photo. THe colours are kind of pale maybe you should play with the levels a bit.
About the comment: I havent been to Colombia but these buildings look far from being rich for latin american standards. To me they look like lower to middle middle class.
I also wouldn't agree that there is no middle class. My home country of peru defineately has a middle class and I know that Colombia has a bigger middle class than us. For my own commentary on the matter you can check out this photo:

Lilly, no quiero demeritar tu trabajo fotográfico pues aporta una nueva visión de la ciudad.
La pregunta es, ¿Con qúién visitaste la ciudad de Medellín? En dos de tus imagenes realizas comentarios equivocados. Lo que tu llamas Iglesia en plaza de Botero no lo es, y estos no son edificios donde habite la gente rica de la ciudad. Son unos edificios que alojan a personas trabajadoras y pujantes, en una zona de la ciudad que se esta recuperando.
I do not agree with the tittle that this picture would reflect the rich part of Colombia, but the middle class instead. Nothing particularly impressive. It's quite a bad photo
