Photographer’s Note

I am getting back to my trip in SA, this time I am back in northern Chile, at San Pedro de Atacama village.
Small as it is, SPDA is one of the most bustling around-the-year tourist attraction in northern Chile - people from all around the continent find themselves passing through this bottle neck of passage, as this is a main cross roads that connects both Bolivia, Argentina and Chile at a one spot on the map. Tours to the Salar de Uyuni and Salar de Atacama as well as many tours to the Valle de la Luna, Taito Geysers, sand boarding and the likes draw many tourists to this remote village. Sitting at the edge of the Atacama desert, SPDA is hot and very dry, as well as high, thus serving as one of the best spots on the continent to do some astronomy observations - star trails are a good opportunity once you walk a mere 20 minutes walk from the lighted town - amazing how many stars you can see there!
This one was shot near Pukara de Quitor, an old fort sitting on a hill, some 3 km NW of SPDA. There is a little cave and two carved faces that draw quite an attention when first confronted...
:)
More to come...
