Photographer’s Note

This is the wondeful view of the mainland as seen from the ferry from Chiloe Islaand to Chaiten.

The mountains seem to raise right out of the Pacific Ocean and the cargo ship gives an idea of the size.

I have rarely felt more insignificant compared to nature.

I can assure you that all of the passengers where speechless....

je me suis frotté les yeux, c'est magique !!
les montagnes qui flottent au dessus de l'océan sont absolument déroutantes. C'est une photo incroyable. le bateau rouge apporte the final touch.

Eh ben, quelle vue, ca laisse sans voix !
C'est superbe et un peu irreel, on dirait le mont Olympe des Grecs qui se dresse au dessus du petit monde des hommes et ca donne l'impression d'etre deux images collees tellement les scenes sont differentes, c'est excellent !

i think many trekkers will be speechless too! it was great that you got the ship in the foreground to give some depth, colour and perspective. actually, the mountain seems to rise from the clouds, as though there's nothing at all beneath it.

How much did it cost you to charter that red ship to pass at that moment!? This is simply fantastic Daniel - one of the best maritime shots I've seen here on TE for the wonderful use of colour and graphic simplicity - what a backdrop - no wonder people were speechless - abolutely amazing my friend!

Very nice shot Daniel. The size of the mountain and that is seems to rise from the clouds are remarkable. Truly majestic. The colour and placement of the ship really add some foreground interest.

Assez impressionnante cette photo. On a l'impression que la montagne sort de nul aprt.
J'aime bien cette image coupée en différentes bandes horizontales.
Le rouge du bateau apporte beaucoup.

Impressive indeed the height of this mountain on the background. I hace to say that when I first saw the picture it looked like a compo of a ship in the sea and a background with a mountain but after looking well at the photo, then I realized that the fore and nbackground are part of the same lanscape.
Very well done.

Esta es una excelente foto con una composición muy interesante, digo interesante debido a que parecen dos fotos en una. La captaste de una manera impresionante permitiendo observar muy buenos detalles con muy buena definición y POV.

C'est vrai qu'on a l'air tout petit (toi surtout, lol). Quel paysage ! Sans Voix est le mot juste. Pour être puriste je vais dire qu'il y a une légère distorstion en barrillet et un tilt de 0.5°. Pour le barillet je suis assez surpris que ce zoom fasse celà. En basse focale ce serait plus admissible.

Hi Daniel,
A superb capture that makes good use of the opposing red hue of the ship to balance the prevailing blue tones. The different layers of interest keep the eye active and the clouds lowering below the glacial peak are most enhancing. A very fine shot, Daniel. Its a keeper.

What a great shot! This does not happen very often, to have this opportunity. It seems there are two worlds, the one above and below the clouds. The red of the ship against the revailing blueness of the picture is very timely.

My first thought was that this was a digital alteration. It is an amazing shot from a very different perspective to be sure. the ship definatly adds the perspective that a picture like this needs. A very well executed composition
