Photographer’s Note
It's a comfortable and scenic walk along the Rio Pingo from the Hostería Grey to the Campamento Pingo campsite.
For me this image captures several elements of the Patagonian landscape: water, bare rock, green plants, and snow-covered mountains. Aside from the visual feast you could hear the running water, the rustle of the leaves in the wind, and the twittering of birds. You could smell the dampness and feel the cold. You could taste life.
I took several shots using different exposure adjustments to try and capture enough detail without ruining the “seclusion” effect of the shade (it was taken late afternoon). This presented a bit of a problem due to the big difference in foreground and horizon light levels and I wanted good depth-of-field. I'm happy with the result (especially the tree silhouette), but as always appreciate any suggestions for improvement.

Your walk took you to a very scenic vista Bruce. The background view framed by the trees and branches is a photo witin a photo...your composition allows us to appreciate the value of both foreground and background. I can see a number of cropping possibilties but this is one of those occasions where I respect the photograher's choice.

I wish I could walk here also. It's a beautiful place. No improvement is necessary as it's a great photo. Your depth of field looks perfect. Thank you for showing us this place.

I wil go to patagonia next March, I hope to see landscape like this.
The tree is a great apport for the photo.
Perhaps, the only bad point is the lack of color.

Boa paisagem. Talvez esteja um pouquinho escura no primeiro plano. O flax talvez tivesse ajudado. De qualquer forma esta linda.

Great scenery Bruce, but very tricky to correctly expose. Without doing a double exposure I suppose it impossible to get enough detail in the shadows. I can not suggest anything to improve this.

You definitely got the seclusion effect right. You have filled the scene with meaningful elements, making this beautiful picture even more impressive. Wonderfully rich texture and deep colours in the fore/mid layers. Don't know how to handle these tricky light conditions personally... have you tried using flash for the foreground?
