Lago Sarmiento de Gambóa Photo

Photographer’s Note

Lago Sarmiento de Gambóa is one of several lakes inside Parque Nacional Torres del Paine. This was taken a short distance from the roadside just after the Y junction as you approach Salto Grande heading into the park. I love the stark contrast between the blue water and the pale rock "skirting" the lake edge - no idea what is responsible for this in geological terms. In the foreground is the orange-flowering Anarthrophyllum desideratum - at least I think that's its name. It had heard a more common name but I've forgotten it: can anyone help out?

Nice landscape, The broccolilike bushes in the foreground look are amazing and so are the hills and mountains in the background. It is a well balanced, nicely colored shot. Well seen, thanks for sharing.

The colours, sharpness & clearness create such a touchable depth that we can think to be able to walk into the image...
I wish I was there, or at least go there and see for myself once in my life... ;o)

PS: What about Genista desiderata or Fire Tongue or Scarlet Gorse? All three names seem to fit the same plant...

The tufts of orange flowers add a nice touch to a landscape of otherwise gorgeous blues, pale greens and mid to dark greys. Nice depth in this photo.

A pretty very interesting sight with beautiful colors on bottom of the photograph, a very good composition.
