Puerto Natales is a city most will have to stay when visiting Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia. It is a nice enough town to walk around. I don’t really know what the building is, what I was interested at the time what the clouds and the sunset mood. The mountains you see in the distance are part of the national park.
Accuracy of the information below is not guarantee, something I gather through different sources:
Puerto Natales is a city in Chilean Patagonia. Puerto Natales is the capital of both the commune of Natales and the province of Última Esperanza, (Spanish for "Last Hope"), one of the four provinces that make up the Magallanes and Antartica Chilena Region in the southernmost part of Chile. The city is located 247 km (153 mi) northwest of Punta Arenas and is the final passenger port of call for the Navimag ferry sailing from Puerto Montt into the Señoret Channel as well as the primary transit point for travelers to Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.
The city was settled by European immigrants: The largest groups are Germans; British such as the English, Welsh and Scots; Croats; Greeks; Italians and Spaniards. Later settlement by Chilean people, with a substantial number coming from the Island of Chiloé, all attracted by the sheep-raising industry.
Nowadays, one of the most important activities is tourism although cattle production and the fishery industries are also significant.

lovely colour and light in the sky and on the yellow building. some of the other bright coloured objects like the ship are a bit distracting from these main items, but clearly nothing you can do about those, the overall effect id very pleasing. The foreground shore is nice and sharply detailed

Hello Way ,
A beautifully composed sunset picture , with superb soft colors , and outstanding cloudy formations . There is one thing that seems curious for me : the tilt of the yellow building . But i suppose that is your choice to present the picture like this .

Wonderful picture with lots of details. The colors and the depth of field are superb!

When such cloud formation takes place above your head, you have to find something, anything to complement the picture and make sure you immortalize them, hopefully with a good addition.
Fortunately, you were at the right place at the right time, with a divine light in the sky and quite an interesting building to present. Yes, I have noticed the tilt like Denis, as the pole next to the frame doesn't forgive and the tower is also leaning, but I am mostly amazed by the clarity and the excellence in your post-processing - this talent of yours is perceptible throughout your work, so I don't mention it all the time.
Just for the smile, the ship looks like if it's made out of Lego blocks, with its colours and cubic aspect.

Sharpness, exposure, chosen pov, dof, colors, contrasts, horizontal format, grey & white borders, composition and overall pp are all oustanding features here! I love the way you showed us the urban elements, that magnificent sky and the snowcapped mountains in the bg!

Nice view of Puerto Natales, beutiful sunset light, wonderful clouds.
Puerto Natales is a pleasant small city. From there I made very interesting excursion by kuter- one full day to Seno Ultima Esperanza and a glacier.
Warm regards from New York

Le bon choix du POV sur une très belle architecture de ce batiment jaune, un ciel fantastique aux couleurs agréable, belle présentation
abmdsudi (26281) 2011-04-01 8:52
Love this, truely an amazing shot at late hour of the day. Very sharp and wide coverage almost all things there. I love the clear view that adds flavor to the scene and the warm light quality is fabulous, the sky is just wonderfully filled by dramatic cloud formation. The framing is perfect, with the colorful buildings set in harmony with the glowing hues of the sky. Great capture from Deep South, all the effective elements of a successful shot are there, all combined to make such a delightful picture. Good and useful notes as well. Compliments, Great effort my friend and TFS.
Have a nice wkend

superb colors and classic composition. What more can one ask for?
holmertz (26958) 2011-04-01 12:43
I love the beautiful evening colours and the stillness they seem to radiate. It's also interesting to actually see traces of human life in this remote wilderness. Altogether a very attractive picture.
ktanska (21523) 2011-04-02 5:26
This place has certain outpost feeling. Place where sea and mountains meet. Interesting combination of a bigger building and a lighthouse. Beautiful sky with saturated but not exaggerated colours.
ingvar (2080) 2011-04-02 17:21
Magnificent spectacle of nature, particularly in sky and mountains in background!
Instead, the housing structure was probably built by the disciples of architects from Pisa? ;o)
Have a nice sunday dear Way!
mkamionka (24537) 2011-04-03 0:27
I did not get there. We were instead approaching the Torres del Paine from Argentina, and the park was the only place we have visited in Chile.
Puerto Natales seems charming but the extraordinary timing and spectacular sky helped you to create a real masterpiece.
As usually you have perfectly used the opportunity.
delpeoples (44960) 2011-04-03 7:23
This is a very different composition to your usual. Just as beautiful but concentrating on architecture rather than rugged landscape. I love the collours and the pastel sky is just magical. It reminds me of those lollies called Fruit Tingles. Do you have them in America? You;ve shot a Fruit Tingle Sky, hahahaha. YUM! Have a lovely weekend and TFS.
kiks (11381) 2011-04-04 5:54

pablominto (53744) 2011-04-04 23:32
The delicate colours are what grab my attention here..!
Lovely hues slightly on the pastel side, and the yellow house stands strong in the composition...
Pin sharp details and a magnificent sky!
CLODO (24726) 2011-04-05 0:07
I am impressed by the sharpness and light of your post of today. I like very much the big cloud seeming to come out of the yellow building.
Good photographic work!
Kielia (20463) 2011-04-05 3:14
you have chosen another very fascinating destination!
The clarity of this impression is striking, I guess it was really cold that day. Very beautiful colors and light and a great atmosphere of the sea!
jhm (122458) 2011-04-05 5:35
Excellent image, I think that the building a little is tilted, not important.
Thank you very much for your interesting notes.
Soft reflections of the church in water.
Colors and sharpness be superb.
Excellent captured and good composed.
Very well done, TFS.
sacimar (25957) 2011-04-05 10:17

Charo (51174) 2011-04-05 13:10

shevchenko (18243) 2011-04-06 1:03
What a beautiful city located in between the sky and water, the scene is less busy, harmonious and full with relaxing feel, good frame to show it, nice soft color and lighting, good sharpness, distinct image, well done.
Angshu (51174) 2011-04-07 9:16
Quite a different shot from you & the composition as always, is excellent. Like the effect of the sunset light on the clouds & the reflection in the water. The building is nice but non descriptive. The clarity is excellent & is apparent when we see the mountain peaks in the far BG so very clearly. I certainly have so much of PP techniques to learn from you...your mastery is quite clearly evident here
siolaw (37568) 2011-04-07 20:46
I don't know the rest of the town, but you chose a nice building to present it in this fine light filtering through the clouds. Good compo in compliance with the rule of thirds :D
Atousa (7097) 2011-04-12 22:50
You captured a wonderful sky with great colors n good light control.. the details on the ground are also interesting.. fine composition.. well done!
Best regards, Atousa

tatadalou (3273) 2011-04-24 6:34
Nice atmosphere in your photo. The clouds add a special light and provide great colours. Regards,
jemaflor (68943) 2011-05-03 12:00

the clouds are very powerful and illustrated in your photos,i like it.
paololg (31442) 2011-06-19 6:07
Ciao dear Way,
you're right, this sky, with the soft tones of the sunset, is just amazing, with an infinite depth, but also the architecture of this palace is very pleasant and interesting. The style is that of German palaces, beautifully captured by your excellent sharpness. Congratulations!
Ciao, have a nice week!
plimrn (21344) 2011-06-27 2:15
While the wonderful light in the clouds and its reflection in the water takes center stage here, the bright yellow building topped by a navigation light, the pier and the distant snow-capped mountains makes this much more than just another sunset photo.
fabbs99 (5471) 2013-03-24 20:11
