Photographer's Note
I was not sure if I should post something from Chile, after the earthquake on Feb. 28, 2010. A 8.8-magnitude earthquake hit Chile early Saturday near the City of Concepcion.
Our hearts go out to the victims of the earthquake. Let this image represents the beauty and strength of their country.
After a few long day hikes, my legs were just so sore and tire, I just didn’t want to take another stop, but the weather was supper nice after it cleared up just before sunset. I just couldn’t just sit there or lay in my tent, especially after talking to a tourist who said she’s been there for a week and this is the only day it was clear and no rain. So I hiked up the hill to where I could see the lake, Lago Pehoe with the mountains, Paine Grande on the right and the cuerno on the left. All the little yellow and orange dots are all the tents at the campsite, my is the third orange one near the frame. It was worth the pain on my Knee hiking up here. And we have the hill all to our self with the panoramic view of the whole area.

Hello Way,

Hi Way
The pain was worth it as your photo is beautiful. So much atmosphere with these clouds and I just love that tiny one on the right which seems to balance the whole shot.

I think your photo is appropriate, at the same time probably lots of people didn't realize how beautiful Chile is... just like in this picture for example.
As a matter a fact I was in San Pedro Atacama 2007 and the 7.1 earthquake hit when I was resting in the guest house.
This particular photo brought back memory as I stayed at that Mountain Lodge Paine Grande.
Love your effort to hike the hill in result this stunning photo. So clear, sharp and managed to get those beautiful light right on time. A very well composed with that unforgettable color of water
Warm regards
Artesia
Ps: Thank you so much for the photo

hi way,
on one side it's right what you were thinking about posting images from Chile...on the other side it's good to show its beauty..so that people can go there...and bringing therefore some money that will be (in part) help reconstructing the damaged cities...
great light and colours...
have a nice evening

hello Way,
I think right now, after the earthquake, we need such beautiful images even more, so thanks for posting this. I like a lot the almost cosmic blue of the sky and water, and how the red glow on the left adds to the feeling of looking towards a strange planet inhabited by shiny orange insects :) technically perfect photo, every detail is clear and sharp, I wish I had something like this in my portfolio :) great shot, well worth suffering some pain in the knee :)
best,
Kristine

Hello Way,
Sore knees or not this lone image may have been your entire trip as it sounds that the weather at this altitude and location does not cooperate with our dreams of photographing the landscape. The colors that were presented to you are fantastic, the soft layering of clouds to the rear of the foreground mount could have presented themselves a little to the right, but that is nature. A great vista with gorgeous colors and the tent city is a plus as it adds flavor and meaning to the foreground's topography.
Looks to be a great location when luck is on one's side...
Excellent capture...

Hello Way,
You didn't disappoint with this one, beautiful alpen glow caught on the peaks. A fine tribute to Chile - may they come through this strife better than they went in.
Great blue of the lake and the sky and the clouds are wonderful in their disappearing act for you.
Have a great week!

Hello Way,
A very beautiful capture, the late sun on the mountains is wonderful. The cloud on the left is a real bonus.
Compositionally you've achieved a very good balance in the frame, I like the way the lake isn't constricted at the bottom of frame, it allows the imagination to take over.
As always from you, excellent quality throughout.
Best wishes

Hi Way,
Sad to know the disaster happened at Chile, this is really a prominent contrast to the earthquake stricken area, good fgrame to the lake and rocky mountain, nice color and lighting, distinct photo, well done.

Hello Way,
Looking to the photo I can confirm it was worth to climb this hill to get this overview.
Very nice lightning on the summit providing nice warm colors in opposition to the ones of the lake. The clouds provided a bonus of interest to this view.
Seeing this, perhaps I should change my mind and plan a trip there (up to now I was a bit afraid by the possible bad weather for sometimes all the time of a trip).
Yves.

Oh Way! What a fantastic light here! The blue and yellow makes a gorgeous duo warm/cold, with a beautiful texture of the water and dream-like mountains. I also think the cloud adds a lot, in this fairy tale atmosphere. Congratulations!

Hello Way,
It seems you are a very stubborn man who will endure any hardship and suffering for a fine picture. Usually it seems the trouble was worthwhile. This view is magnificent, but the main attraction is that golden cloud.
Kind regards,

Hi Way
I've never been to Chile, but would post something like this in solidarity, & as a show of support for Chileans affected by the earthquake, if I had. So I'm glad you posted it! It's also a nice view of the snowcapped peaks & lake with impeccable sharpness & majesty. Tfs!

Hi Way,
we see this could happen at many, many places in the world, Haiti, China, Iran and many more. I think it is the right way to show the beauty of this country, maybe it will help the people, like Silvio said.
However, it is a beautiful picture of a great nature.
It was really worth the torture ;-))
Have a fine day

Hello Way
I don't think there is any problem in posting that view from Chile...of course, we don't forget that massive earthquake, its victims and about the 2 millions of people who are displaced...
you were lucky, not like this woman, to have a clear weather to present us this breathtaking view with its lake and mountains. Lovely contrasts and beautiful pink cloud...
It was well worth the effort my friend ;)

Sabaidie Way
This is an absolutely fantastic place! At first I thought those colourful dots to be flowers. Now that I read them as tents, I can only imagine the scale of the landscape here. The play of light on the mountain slopes, making them glow are amazing, as is the sunlit clouds approaching the mountain from the left. Your exposure management and PP work is fantastic as you brought out all details from the shaded parts. Love the blue colour of the lake in the FG. Excellent!

Hi Way
You were right to listen to the lady comments and forgot that you were tired. You are rewarded by this spectacular landscape, well framed, with a good light management, a pure air (rain removed the dust from the air). The blue color of the lake is fantastic.

Hi Dear Way, this is a very beautiful tribute to Chile, our thoughts and prayers are with them. My uncle is from Santiago and after 2 days of not being able to contact his family, we finally heard from them. They are homeless but still alvie - which is all that matters. Your photo is spectacular and gives justice to this amazing country. In terms of sharpness, composition, depth and colour rendering, it's superb. TFS and I wish you a beautiful day, Lisa

Hello Way,
A beautiful moment (the clouds left
in the picture and the sunlight on
the top of the mountians) and you are
standing on a beautiful point of
view (the picture has a very nice
open space).
The light management and the
composition are as alway great.
Friendly regards,
Robert
p.s. Thanks for your honest opinion,
personally I like the barn (okay
I hate the car) in the picture.
Turning the camera more to the right
wasn't a possibility: behind me was
an ugly road.
