Photographer's Note
This is a Re-Post of one of my old photos from Chile. What I have done here was applying a grad filter in the Photoshop and adjusting the brightness afterwards. I do own a real ND grad filter but sometimes while in hurry I don’t have time to take it out and use on the lens so I like this post-processing option which you can apply at home. The only thing is that I am not very experienced with PS and it takes me always quite a while to use it and the results are not always as I would like them to be. In this case I like the effect of darkened upper part and effectively more colourful foreground.

Hello Mariusz,
The foreground certainly is bright and very colourful taking into account the heavily overcast sky. The intended contrast is therefore definitely successful.
Beautiful reddish tones are added thanks to the many guanacos.
It's a pleasant sight to see so many animals living in the high mountains and probably on high altitude.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Mariusz
This looks fantastic, what a backdrop to the wonderful natural foreground, and what a contrast between the harsh unforgiving rocks of the mountains, and the delicate youthful life of the dear. Really great capture, thanks for sharing this.
All the best

Hi Mariusz,
It must be a great moment to see such a wildlife scene. The cloudy mountains look majestuous. It looks like it lacks a little sharpness in the FG, the guacanos probably moved too much !
Have a nice week,

Hello Mariusz,
A very fine photograph from a place which we don't see too often on TE.
And a great improvement on your original shot. I've studied and compared the two and while the original is probably exactly what you saw, this version, with the slightly darkened backround of mountains and sky, is much more pleasing. The mountains look huge and somewhat threatening and yet the foreground stands out brightly in fine contrast. The details and sharpness throughout are superb.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. Did you darken the distant view by using layers and layer masks or by adding some graduated darkening?

Hi M,
Nice to see it again. While I like the stronger background here, I also like the original, the softer background allow us to focus more on the herd of guanacos. This one is perfect in both background of the moutina and the herd also stood out well.

Hi Mariusz
The ND filter has worked well in this photo bringing much more depth to the clouds as compared to your original photo. Great composition with the mix of wild life and wild country.

Hi Mariusz
This is better than prev post and good pp treatment with the colour saturation and slight constrast boosted to excellent effect. That's simply stunning, you captured a beautiful moment here and the background is really fabulous and those 'trained' llamas are there to pose for you - lol fiiling much of the fg superbly. There's a lot of luck in photography, this is indeed a great place to be! Nice capture, Congrats.
Kind regards

Hello Mariusz. This part of the world must be wonderful. Nature is amazing and diverse. Flora and fauna are also very special. Only the weather is crazy sometimes. I really like your photo. The guanacos before the massif are truly worth seeing.

Mariusz,
to naprawde niesamowita sceneria.

Hi Mariusz
The contrast is better here and colours are less pale than the older version... Nice scene anyhow with all the guanacos spread on the FG and majestic mountains as a backdrop.
Maybe a bit tight on the top, but no big deal there!

Good evening Mariusz,
Beautiful nature's view, with the many Guanacos presented on a relatively small area. All in the majestic decor of the grand Torres-del-Paine needle cones.
Marvelous picture, and yes, not always we have time to put filters on, the original version has good quality and natural tones as well.

Hi Mariusz
maybe I should go back into my gallery and take a look at some possible re-posts too :)
when i look back at my earliest posts here i actually cringe and almost vomit! lol
this is a beautiful shot regardless of the use or lack of ND use.
the mountains, the open fields, the wildlife, its all so natural.
this is the type of scenery that I wish I could have experienced myself :)
only a few more days and we're off to Iceland :)

Hi Mariusz,
a high contrast between the grey rocks of the mountains, the snow, the clouds and the green slope in foreground, splashed by the guanacos in a life explosion.
The image is very sharp and luminous, and offers us a really beautiful wild landscape.
A great work.

Hello Mariusz.
Sensational this stunning landscape, I love the two as distinct areas of the image, the foreground beautiful, with all these animals on a high prairie, noted for its beautiful greenish and grayish tone contrasts with the high mountains, his pride rugged beauty.
Sensational this palette.
Perfect both luminosity and good sharpness.
Well done.
Enjoy the weekend.

Hello Mariusz,
The positive result of your post-processing of this picture is obvious. The scene itself, with beautiful creatures in the foreground and rigorous, but also very nice mountains in the background, is very well composed and captured by you. Perfectly good job!

Hello Mariusz,
This is an incredible landscape, and your picture displays its beauty very well. the composition is very well balanced. The animals lama lead the viewer to the mountains. The colours are fantastic as always your depth of field and sharpness are perfect.

Hello Marius,
I don't have a graduated filter but my friend does. She is an expert with it but, like you, if I find problems I have to use PS to correct them.
There are two very distinct areas to your shot. The guanacos are grazing on a grassy, green plain which seems almost luscious. Beyond, however, the mountains rise cold and formidable and the darkened sky has a threatening demeanour.
Despite the contrasts, the areas sit comfortably together, creating a natural progression from f/g to b/g.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Mariusz,
Beautiful surrounding.
Excellent light management ( I like also the
effect what you wrote) and composition.
The lower clouds fits very well with the
rough mountains and that makes the picture
extra exciting. I like that.

Robert

Hu Mariusz!
I prefer this version now! I think you have improved it with your PP. The foreground is brighter and with nice colours and the photo really deserves it - the landscape is magnificent and the guanacos in foreground really add to the composition.

Cześć Mariusz,
Udany ten retusz, ale i same zdjęcie bardzo dobre, więc jest
na czymś dobrym popracować. Osobiście nie jestem zwolennikiem
filtrów w PS ale tych "realanych" ale to jest ok.

HI Mariusz!
I have seen these nice animals in Atacama region/Bolivia and loved their elegant moves.
This is a great landscape shot with these guanacos in the foreground .
The rich green foreground contrast well with the grey tones of these majestic mountains.
You did a good pp here!

Witaj dear Mariusz
A beautiful landscape mde even more unique and beautiful by the addition of the herd of llamas(??). The addition of the ND grad in post processing has worked beautifully and the grey tones are superbly contrasted with the green tones. Excellent definition and chromatic rendering. Congratulations.

Hi Mariusz!
Great shot and great note! I myself haven't tried that feature in Photoshop. Well, it looks like natural to me and worked out really well with the scene. Lovely landscape, definitely breathtaking!
