Mirador del Nordenskjold translates as a viewpoint to the Lake Nordenskjold.
Park National Torres del Paine is arranged around several lakes of glacial origin and Lago Nordenskjold is one of them. There are numerous stunning vistas of the Cuernos del Paine across the lakes. I have showed here one already. In this photo here, you can also spot the Cuernos del Paine but it is a side view which is much less impressive. It is the mountain range in the very center, which consists of several layers of rock, the black one being on top.
Why Cuernos del Paine is so exceptional you can see better in my other upload from this place .
What I like while travelling to distant places is that not only the landscapes but also the flora and fauna are so different. For example I like very much these red blooming tiny bushes here, although I have no idea what they are. Please help me out if anybody knows.
Nordenskjöld Lake (Spanish: Lago Nordenskjold) is a lake located in Torres del Paine National Park in the Magallanes Region, southern Chile. The lake is named after the Swede Otto Nordenskiöld who discovered the lake in the beginning of the 20th century. The outfall of Nordenskjöld Lake consists of a waterfall known as Salto Grande. At this western end of the lake on the southern side is an abundance of wildlife including wild grazing Guanaco.

There is very little for me to critique constructively. The shot seems flawless to me. It is so beautifully composed, with sensational colours and depth. I like how you've used the red flowers in the FG to anchor the shot and lead our eyes over all this natural beauty. What an amazing place, definitely on my list of places to go.
Have a good day and TFS
SnapRJW (31625) 2011-01-30 3:22

Hi Mariusz, Although it's a slightly baron landscape, it still looks amazing & those little clumps of red add extra interest & beauty, the mountains in the background are spectacular & what a great sky, overall it's a super shot, kind regards Wilson.

dreamily and pleasant paysage you captured.
josepmarin (57885) 2011-01-30 4:16
this place is wonderful and has a grand beauty, and your photo offers it to us by means of an impeccable way. The mountains, the lakes and the steppe, close to a fantastic sky, form a simply brilliant composition.
The luminosity, the chromatic level, the quality of the image, the visual angle of the framing and the field depth are impressive, and you make a perfect management of all of it, with a good skill.
A beautiful work.
pasternak (15181) 2011-01-30 4:21
WOW, what a view! Of course you make it more appealing with the PP, but the scenery itself is breathtaking! At first I wondered about the Scandinavian name of the place, looking at the countly, but your note provided an explanation. Very well done.
faletiz (10759) 2011-01-30 4:26

Great clarity and sharpness, it looks almost like a studio job (which it obviously is not at all!!) - I'm not really into landscape photography, but I'll make an exception for this one. And I love the patches of red on the foreground. Nice work.
Sonata11 (33641) 2011-01-30 9:55

I have discovered your gallery recently and I have to say every post I discover is a wonder.
The quality of this one is exceptional. Never seen a such DOF before. The landscape is beautiful and your shot as much. Moreover, you succeeded to keep the natural colors.
Very well seen to have included the red plants which give the perfect comorimetric contrast.

Uwielbiam takie dzikie krajobrazy. odać do tego należy twoje mistrzowskie oko i dbałóśc o szczególy. Przepiękna górka kraina, ośniezone szczyty, fantastyczne niebo nad nimi i niesamowity płaskowyż ze szmaragdowymi jeziorami. Zastanawiające te czerwone kwiaty czy porsosty.
emka (85311) 2011-01-30 15:43
Piekny widok. Wspaniale widoczne rogi i widać, ze jezioro Nordenskjold ma inny kolor. Znakomity kadr i ostrość. Podobaja mi sie te czerwone kepki, ale nie mam pojecia, co to jest :(( Milo sobie powspominać, patrząc na zdjecie.

Superb, astonishing, impressive landscape. Very interesting post. very nice too with an excellent composition. The well coloured large FG give a greta depht with the prospect open to the lakes and the top covered of snow. Congrtaulations.
Angshu (56462) 2011-01-31 8:04
Another beauty from Patagonia! The view combines quite a few elements of beauty, starting with the red flowers in the FG, then the lake & of course the majestic Cuernos del Paine. Your PP work is precision perfect...I need to take private lessons from you, if you're willing! Stunning photography & definitely a lesson for me in landscape photography!

a beautiful panoramic view picture of splendid nature scenery,
snow covered steep rock mountains are so clear and almost mystic here,
fore lakes and back sky are quite mysterious too,
and your composition setting red round flowers at fore field is very artistic, it makes me feel very deep and wide space sensation,
thank you for your excellent shot,

Breathtaking scenery, wonderful POV elected to these highland flower beds, the beautiful lake and the magnificent mountains in the background, another angle of the Torres del Paine and look at a picture of you before, the sky adds beauty to these fleeting clouds to a composition and of itself is great.
Image very clearly, with ideal brightness and superb colors. I love it.

Greta landscape with this lake and mountains in the bg; very well composed with thses red flowers in the fg, ideal to give an interesting depth and a 3D result.
Waylim (25368) 2011-02-02 18:17
Once again, a great shot, not only the landscape is fantastic, but with a clear day like this, it certainly help convey the beauty of the wilderness. The clarity is really can't be better. Each layers of the mountains are all in clear view. Once again, you're are supper lucky with the weather in Patagonia.
I have seen similar foreground but not background like this one.
Photo quality is great as always. A joy to look at this.
jafadabret (56501) 2011-02-03 23:49
Bon WE !
sevy (15367) 2011-02-04 5:07
Very good landscape. You were lucky to get such weather. Some friends of mine never succeeded to see the mountains.
I like the red plants in foreground. They are very important in the composition to share the depth of this view.
Longroute (19396) 2011-02-04 10:34
I had missed this one! I'm really sorry that I'm so backwards in commenting your photos.
Well, you should be fully satisfied with the weather you found here! You could not find a better light!
And the result is a masterpiece!
The landscape is breathtaking and the deep blue sky really makes it even more intense and charming. The composition is sooo fine, showing those lovely red bushes in foreground which are fantastic eye catchers and which give an incredible depth to the image. The small lakes complement very well the superb mountains. I love the textures of the grass, bushes and rocks enhanced by the excellent sharpness: a real pleasure to look at.
Best compliments and really thanks for sharing,

Spectacular image with great sharpness and clarity. Also cirrus clouds gives dynamic effect.
I particularly like a sense of barrenness.
holmertz (44496) 2011-02-09 5:32
It's interesting to see that this remarkable place was discovered by one of my countrymen (but I guess the local people already knew about it). The tufts of red plants make a perfect foreground for this dramatic scenery. It's a technically brilliant picture of great beauty.
claudeD (35085) 2011-02-09 9:47
wow. What an amazing picture.Perfect colors, excellent composition and this sky ... my congratulations.TFS.

kiks (11781) 2011-02-10 5:04
Fantastic photo. The composition with the mighty moumtains at the back the lakes and the 2 red plants at the fg are sublime. Tere is so much to see.
The filter did a marveloous work on the sky.
ilDottore (5252) 2011-02-17 9:49
:) Niestety moje aktualne UWA takie zabawy wyklucza.
Kompozycja boska, zdjęcie z najwyższej półki.
Pozdrawiam i gratuluję.
chawax (19768) 2011-02-18 2:39
Wow, fantastic landscape ! You chose a POV that gives a lot of space to the moor and makes us feel the immensity of the place. We feel so little facing this very wild scenery ! I love how the red bushes add some colour to this austere place. Light is excellent, DOF and sharpness too. Patagonia is really an area of the world I would like to visit one day ! I was surprised by the name of the lake, it makes us think about Scandinavia, then I saw why such a name in your interesting note ;)
Juntas (7960) 2011-02-21 8:30
Hi MAriusz. A beautiful image that almost seems unreal. A great composition with the diagonal of mountains, perfect colors and a very good sharpness. Great details in the fg and also a great dof. Well done.
Have a nice evening.
nikkitta (16476) 2011-02-23 20:06
Never been in the South, must begin to plan to go
But this shot seems ( HDR?)from another planet, the incredible color's sky reflecting on the lake is impressive
Like the orange flowers adding color foe a better contrast
npecanhuk (69552) 2011-02-24 4:13
What a gorgeous place!
The more I see your picture, the more I want to schedule a trip for that place as soon as possible (not sure I'll be able to do it though)!
Man, I love everything here: chosen pov, colors, exposure, composition, contrasts, horizontal format, dof and overall pp!!! They're all oustanding features!
TFS - congrats,
Bergenphotos (2640) 2011-02-27 14:38
Nothing at all can ruin the fact that this is an amazing photograph. The landscape is for sure magnificent, but you've also done a good job composing it. First: The sky is one of the most outstanding I've seen in a long time. It looks very special, but not unnatural, just perfect. The red things in front (I don't know what it is) fits wonderfully in because of the color. They also make the foreground more interesting.
But I got to admit that what made me click at this image in the first place was that the lakes were named after Nordenskiold. That is scandinavian! So I was impressed that a lake so far away maybe was named after a Norwegian. It turned out to be a Suede, but still... Thanks for sharing. This is a masterpiece!
Greetings from Norway,
zanskar (280) 2011-04-14 2:45
Absolutely fabulous shot ! Torres del Paine is so impressive, and you realised here an incredible composition, due to the mixt of colours. The oranged plants in the foreground gives live to this mineral landscape. Well done, I love it !

Great shot my friend...:)
banyanman (7789) 2012-03-23 5:20
I can see we have a lot in common in terms of the types of landscapes that we enjoy photographing, Mariusz. I would love to have this one in my own gallery because it is exactly as I would have framed it, and you have executed it perfectly. A1 technically, great DOF and excellent use of the grad filter. I think the red plants in the foreground are Anarthrophyllum Defideratum (commonly known as the Neneo Plant). They add a fabulous foreground POI which is often hard to find in wide-angle landscape photographs.
ikeharel (62159) 2012-10-15 4:27
Magnificent nature's, on one of the best attractions in S.America. The location is overwhelming, and majestic in view.
Excelent shot over the reserve, colors and light well managed.
This is rather very different POV from what we normally and usually see.
