The hill’s alive with…the sound of the hallowing wind, flowers and guanacos.

It is very common to see a herd of guanacos glazing along the hills, taken on the way back from a hike. After a long day hike in the cold and snow, I just can’t wait to get back to our nice warm hotel room…oh wait, I was too poor to stay in hotel, instead we were camping in the cold. At least back in the camp ground, I could get some hot tea to drink. The mountain in the background is Paine Grande.

Hello Way,
a beautiful combination indeed of mountains, a low but colourul vegetation and animals.
A pity that the photo seems to suffer from oversharpening, at least on this 800 pixel format.

Hello Way,
Not just a few guanacos on that green hill but a herd. When I look at the foreground there's not really that much to graze for them but on the other hand that FG is very beautiful with the many flowers and that red colour contrasts well with the green hill where the guanacos are.
The snowcapped mountain tells us that you were on a high altitude when taking this picture.
I find this a very beautiful nature photo and I would love to shoot such views myself. But staying for the night on a cold camping place ... that's really hard.

Great capture, i didn't realise there was a herd there from the thumbnail. Great contrast of colours and textures, particularly in the foreground. Great contrast with the snow covered mountain in the distance. Excellent balance and depth. TFS

This country must be a wonder for photos! Another great landscape here. Seems there's a difference between vegetation in foreground and the one in background, where the guanacos are. It seems it was cloudy but you got a great light here.Good colours and dof also!

Wow, what a big herd of guanacos. The are so cute animals. Fantastic colours in the foreground. I can imagine how cold it was in the tent, brrr. great view in the Paine Grande.

The colors are too flashy for me, here, but I like very much the scene. It has a peaceful mood and the composition with the rockery in the foreground is excellent. I also like the volume with three different levels. Bravo.

dream composition, a really beautiful and suggestive scene. Marvelous above all the FG, with these stains of intense color, perfectly clears, that opposes with the cloudy sky and the little light. The back lighting of the sun gives a mystical effect to this shot. Lovely colours of the moss in the foreground and goo balance having 4 parts to the photo.

I'm always very interested by your shots which always present us beautiful landscapes, so different from our usual environment. Your shots give desire for giving its resignation and for traveling all around the world.
Here, I like all the different colors and atmospheres you found, a luminous foregound and a threatening background. The confrontation is very interesting.
According to me, the sharpness is a bit too much high, I find guenacos contours a little aggressive. But it's just my opinion. The first time, I believe, that I have something against your shot. ;-)
A charming place to do camping Way, certainly more memorable than an hotel room and not only because of the temperature! ;-)

Love the way you created the ample FG with red flowers almost draggin us into the picture with the guanacos, a herd of them, leading us to the Paine Grande in the BG. Light does not seem to be very favourable at the fag end of the day & also the hanging clouds...maybe that's why you perhaps saturated a bit, noticeable in the red & the green...

What a fantastic photo as you seem to have the secret of tracking down ! If it wasn't for your note or the snow-capped mount behind, I would find it hard to believe it was so cold !
The contrast between the coloured foreground and the snow-covered peak at the back is great, and the grazing herd just makes it magic, as if the hills were alive, just like you say.
It's great to know that this species of animal is still wild ! Very beautiful too. However, I see it's in danger of being over-hunted for its fur. What a shame !

It looks like three layers photo: lovely vegetation, group of guanacos and snowy Paine Grande. Torres del Paine is a beautiful remote national park great for hiking and photography. Superb colors, light and sharpness.
