Photographer’s Note
The Place
La Portada is a natural archway in the ocean about 20km to the north of Antofagasta. It has become an icon of the region and one of the most recognizable landmarks of Chile.
Background
This is not a new POV of this place. There are many other photos here, but I wanted to post this one for personal reasons. I lived in this city, Antofagasta, during my high school years, and I have good memories from those times. I have not visited this city for many years, and I wanted to share with TE community this natural gate to this city, hence the name "La Portada".
Technical
Nothing special technically. No major PP

Hi Jorge,
Bit dark, not the best light, but the image it self has a high potential to make something great out of it. That gate at sea looks nice, and on the composition it self is not much wrong, wish only you had better light here....

Jorge,
you got a wonderful composition and despite the haze and harsch light you managed it quite well. the CP filter certainly helped to cut through the air. Lovely placement of the arch to the right off center.

Hola Jorge!
Tremendo paisaje, una foto muy impresionante, con buen encuadre y composicion, me gusta el manejo de la luz "oscuro" que crea una atmosfera especial. Muy buena "puerta" de roca en el fondo, bellos colores! Felicidades!
Un saludo,
Hercules

hi Jorge,
I agree with Henk that the light is not the best here, but my impression from the Ruta 1 is that good light happens very rarely here. still, the photo works well to illustrate the rugged coast of El Pacífico, I like a lot how the arch seems to be slowly sliding into the water.
best,
Kristine

Hola Jorge,
I also find this a little bit dark but this must be related to your personnel taste. I guess your choice was for a more dramatic mood. I like a lot the composition, well chosen point of view and good use of the rule of the thirds. Well done!

hola Jorge
as others have mentioned: nice balance in your composition here. lines, formations leading to your subject. actually, i personally had not seen this particular POV of this place; rather I remember seeing much closer views of the portada. yours however, 'explains' the environment better.
heh. that hazy sky: that's exactly what i remember from san pedro and iquique areas :)

Hola Jorge,
Muy bonito este litoral de pelados acantilados.
Por aquí hay un paisaje parecido a ese con el arco de piedra sobre el mar. Excelente luz y perspectiva.
Un abrazo,
Charo

Hi Jorge:
Wait, are you sure this isn't Wales or England, or somewhere over there? ;) I had no idea Antofagasta looked like this--I knew that the north had good beaches, like Iquique and such, but I didn't know it had cliffs and sea arches. The light's really harsh here, unfortunately, but the shot is quite nice.
