Photographer’s Note

This is a view from a bridge that unites Valdivia central area to Teja island. Here we can see the public market in the edges of the river and the foating structure I posted yesterday. We can see the cathedral in the background too. In the lower area of the photo we can see another floating island near the bridge, with some sea lions. In the Teja island there is a nice botanic garden and near the bridge there is a little park full of giant trees (impressive) and an old house that is a museum.
Valdivia is one of the most important towns in the Lakes region. It was of of the first towns founded in that region by Spaniards in 1552. It was invaded by Dutch pirates 1600 and destroyed by an up rising of natives, being rebuild in 1645. It received lots of German immigrants and it was totally destroyed by a terrible earthquake in 1960. Today it is very difficult to find old buildings in the town cause this. The level of this town went down around 2 meters. Unfortunately the weather was very bad.

Esta é uma vista da ponte que une o centro de Valdívia com a Ilha Teja. Ao fundo podemos ver o mercado público, a catedral e a estrutura flutuante que mostrei ontem. Próximo a ponte podemos ver outra balsa cheia de leões marinhos. Na ilha Teja há um belo jardim botânico e, na cabeceira da ponte, há um pequeno parque com gigantescas árvores, algo que me impressionou. Ali próximo há também um museu que funciona num palacete antigo.
Valdivia é uma das cidades mais importantes na Região dos lagos andinos chilenos. Foi uma das primeiras cidades fundadas pelos espanhois em 1552, invadida por piratas holandeses em 1600 e destruída por um levante indígena. A cidade foi reconstruída somente em 1645. Recebeu muitos imigrantes alemães e foi totalmente destruída por um terrível terremoto em 1960. Por conta desta tragédia é difícil encontrar edifícios antigos na cidade, além disso o nível de solo abaixou dois metros por conta do terremoto. Infelizmente o tempo estava fechado e chuvoso.

Boa noite Jorge,
Apesar do tempo fechado a foto ficou uma beleza, além disso o cinza tem seus momentos, não é? Combinou extradiordinariamente com os interessantes leões marinhos bem instalados.

Hello George,

I remeber the earthquake from 1960 with the many victims, this was my wedding year. Yes in 1947 came many Germans to Chile through the catholic church in Rome.
We see an modern city in background with church and modern building.
The sea lions are here the real eye catcher.
Very well composition and pleasant for look it.

Olá Jorge!
Em Valdívia só passei de ônibus, no meu caminho de Puerto Montt para Pucón.
A região é diferente, com planícies alagadas, mas não pude voltar lá.
Através de suas fotos estou conhecendo-a um pouco mais!
Gostei dessa, especialmente, pelos leões marinhos!

Olá Jorge
Bem interessante fotografias; são duas foto numa só imagem: a balsa com leões marinhos e o panorama ao fundo. Já vi leões marinhos também assim noutros portos.
Quanto à paisagem urbana ao fundo, de imediato fez-me lembrar o norte da Europa (talvez também influenciado pelo céu carregado). Depois li a nota ("Recebeu muitos imigrantes alemães e foi totalmente destruída por um terrível terremoto em 1960.") e pensei que deve estar aí uma parte da explicação para a minha sensação de norte da Europa.

Jorge,
A composição está de primeira. O ponto de tomada apresenta um ceso artístico muito bom. Noto um certo desequilíbrio na setagem dos pixels pares no céu, mas nada tão sério.
