This is the ceiling of the main church of Achao city. It is the oldest in the archipelago (1735 to 1767)build in cypress and alerce wood, using lumawoods pegs instead of nails. The church is build in baroque style and was restored in 1960, after a very big eathquake. When I saw this ceiling I rememeber that big orange crabs, native from these islands. I think it isn't only a coincidence.

Este é o teto da igreja de Achao. É a mais velha igreja de todo o arquipélago de Chiloé (1735-1767), erguida em madeira de cipreste e alerce, usando pregos de madeira ao invés de pregos de metal. O estilo da igreja é barroco e ela foi restaurada em 1960, depois de um violentíssimo terremoto. Quando olhei para o teto me lembrei daqueles grandes caranguejos laranja, de pernas longas e espinhentas, e que são nativos das ilhas, creio que não é apenas uma coincidência..
