Villarrica is one of Chile's most active volcanoes. The volcano has an elevation of 2,847m, but the climb itself is a little over 1400m. If one takes the ski lift part way up the climb is shortened to a little over 1000m. I took the shorter route and was glad I did as the last half of the hike required some difficult trudging through snow.

I did that also back in 2005!!! It's great, isn't it?!
I love your picture... good memories... very good memories!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, chosen pov, vertical format, black borders and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,

Looks like an endless path for these excursionnists. Their suits brings so much contrast to the picture.

Hello Kevin - This is an excellent composition with a good choice of vertical framing. I get a real feel for the terrain and I love the perspective as we look into the distance and the higher elevation is swallowed by the mist. The climbers provide a vivid human detail, it's a shame that a few in the FG are falling outside the frame but probably difficult to manage, perhaps you could clone them out? A fascinating documentary shot. Warm regards rosemary

Just splendid. A superb vertical composition of clouds and strange greyness and colourful trekkers. It's a rather mind-blowing sight made even more stunning from the bright light and strong contrasts. I haven't seen anything quite like this before.

What a great picture. The group on the left is so clear and colourful. They contrast with the steam escaping from the volcano. Great depth of field that allows us to see the details of the ground. Perfect sky.
This picture is perfect.

A well collected scene from the top of this impressive mountain. I like how the ridge dissapears into the fog. the people in the red/blue clothes is a great addition. A pity though that some of them has been cut in the right part of the frame. But the overall impression is very good and very well presented in this vertical frame. Great work:) TFS. Have a nice day.
Best regards, Erling

you are giving us the opportunity to share an extraordinary and fascinating sight with this wonderful vivid picture. The perspective of the summit, where this colourful group of climbers are standing with different postures but probably the same sense of wonder, is captivating. I love the climber who is absorbed by the misty abyss in front of him; also, how close the clouds are. The sight is fantastic, composition, lighting, textures, colours and contrasts stand up to it superbly. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,

This is well taken high up with excellent lead in lines and a startling place but the distant ridge fades into the cloud superbly. The sky is the limit for this superb shot, I love the depth, the colours and composition well taken from a good view point. Tremendous of photo excitement there except probably the weather is cold but the specks of vivid red and blue bring it to life and pull attention in, and strikingly creates a nice contrast overall. Very nicely done. Cheers!.

Because of the smoke on the left, the climbers really seem to be on the edge of the volcano.
The composition is quite good, despite the fact that some of the climbers are cut bythe frame. But the vertical format is the good choice, in my opinion.

while in the region I only visited the lakes, the national park huerquehue and I saw this volcano many times, anyway I hadn't time to climb it. few months ago a brazilian died here.
very nice image catching the strip of the way that looks like floating in the air. TFS.

I hope this photo is hanging on your wall! This hike looks pretty extreme, especially with all the gear everyone is wearing. But looks worth it x 100.

Interesting living perspective.
The caldera is full of mist
