Photographer’s Note
The Place
This is south-east coast of Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Except for two small stretches of sand beach, the entire coast is rough, rocky, or a high cliff.
You can always check the location of my photos by clicking on the map link.
Background
I took this photo very early in the morning, after taking this photo, while driving back to have breakfast with my wife, who stayed at the hotel.
Technical
As I explained in this photo, the weather was very cloudy, as you can see here. The colors of the day were not attractive, but I liked the color of the sea and waves, that is why I stopped the car and shoot this.
However, the RAW did not come as attractive as what I saw, so I enhanced a bit the tones with HDR, my second attempt after my first complete failure. I hope I improved a bit since that time.

Hola Jorge!
Felicidades!
Un saludo,
Hercules

I do remember the rocky coast line of Rapa Nui as I also remember the beach with white sand and a beautiful set of statues in the background. It is a wonderful and magic place, Rapa Nui.
I believe you have done pretty well in here, considering the over casted sky and the difficult light. I like it.

Hello Jorge ;
A great coastal landscpae ! No strong element here . The landscape for itself , a picture perfectly composed , and so nice tonalities . The sky adds to the interesting atmosphere .

Hello Jorge,
I think you succeeded. Wonderful stormy colors accentuating a very jagged coastline. A dramatic picture.

Hi Jorge, Although the sky is cloudy, I find the view very attractive. Nice rocky coast, very wild, nice view of the sea with no big waves (Pacific Ocean!).

Hello Jorge,
It is interesting to see this Pacific shoreline, rugged and marked by the forces of nature over ages!
An effective point of view gives a fine diagonal composition, and the special light situation adds atmosphere...

Hi Jorge,
I haven't idea if what we see here differs so much from the "straight" conversion from (whatever that may be, as the results can be pretty dissimilar depending on the program used), but I like very much the result, specially because it doesn't "look HDR" - I just hope people think the same of my frequent exposure blendings. It's indeed a wild and harsh coast, with a unique strange beauty. You chose the POV well, the compo is very pleasing.

José

Hello Jorge -
I think you have done a nice job with this image given the limitations you explained. Have you considered a B&W conversion? I think it would work very well with the monotones and the smooth gradations of tone through out the image. Well done.
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Jorge,
I think that the weather helped you, that grey sky gives the picture a dramatic background that fits the powerful waters. Superb composition, light management and sharpness.
best regards
Darek
